I had those, the low beam is not evenly "spread", and the chrome inside made bubbles because of bulb heat ):h

Thanks Matuva. I echo Dan's comments regarding your trusted experience, dual bear bong headset avatar notwithstanding. Thanks for the comment on the LED Halo, which I will now avoid.

I have yet to have a single person flash me with my low beams on since putting the HIDs in. Must be that they are aimed correctly and my trucks stance is not dragging aZZ

Well, I just spent the afternoon trying to replace my high beams with HIDs. For some reason I can not make it work. I even tried disconnecting the all4onhi mod, didnt help. I got the lightbulbs to work using my low beam ballasts, but not on the high beam circuit. I'm very confused now. I do have a high power harness upgrade with realy powering my low beams, maybe I need to do that for the highs as well. I feel like I'm just not getting enough power out of my headlight switch, which by the way is getting hot, and has been replaced twice already because the chinese pos can't handle running HO headlights and a few extra marker lights. SO the only thing left I can think of is to get another harness for the high beams. Cant remember where I got the last one, it was somebody on here.

The 5000k low beams make my high beams look dim yellow and weak. Which btw I dont believe is a weak output problem, the lights actually shine really far and are bright, they just dont compare to the HIDs and look stupid next to them. Although a harness might help them too. Want to sort this out before I buy the euro lights mentioned earlier in this thread.

Yes, include me on wanting to know the solution. Someone on here was claiming all4onhi with HIDs for both low and hi beams. That is what I want.

Where is your complaint? You have already stated that the subjective appearance of your headlights is more important to you than having effective and safe vision. At least your your truck isn't fugly!

To answer your question, yes you do need a relay. One on the low and one on the high side. IMO the factory wires are inadequate for stock lighting, much less for upgraded lights. This should be the first modification for any truck. It will make a difference. Once you have the proper wires, then you can add high wattage lights to your hearts content. You can get relays most anywhere. You can find instructions here If you want plug & play, I'm sure most online places have them. I suggest new ceramic headlamp connectors as well. I have relays with 10 gauge wire using ceramic connectors. The power comes from the underhood fuse box. I can (and have) used 130 watt bulbs with no problem. It also makes the headlight switch last much longer. Without relays, the switch carries the entire current load of every illuminated headlight. With relays, it only sees the relatively light load of the relay.

I bought new headlights last year from JC Whitney like the ones in the photo. The plastic on them is a little thinner than the factory ones. There is a bump on the back that aligns the headlight with the sheet metal on the truck. This bump was located in the wrong place for my truck. I ended up taking the headlamp off the mounting plate and using my old mounting plate with the new headlamps. The adjusters seem a bit wobbly, but the headlights don't shake when I drive.

They came with bulbs, but I replaced the low beams with HIR bulbs from John Deere.

All in all, it made a HUGE difference in being able to see at night.
 
So based on Matuva's recommendation, I purchased 2 sets of the above linked headlight housings. I received them in 2 different shipments, which doesnt suprise me, one yestarday, one today.

The first set arrived with almost all of the adjuster mounts (square white plasitic that holds the adjuster bolt) knocked out of the housing. One broke when attempted to install it, but I managed to get it installed and functional.

The second set arrived in much better shape, but one of the adjusters has a collar that holds the gear in place, and it keeps popping out. Nothing a dab of super glue cant fix.

Here is the REAL downfall... when mounted in the truck they stick out from flush by about 3/8" :-( I found that REALLY disappointing, as they just dont look right like that.

I called the company with all of my concerns and we reached an agreeable resolution. It was said the reason they stick out, is the 'glass' is thicker??? not sure I believe that....

I have yet to see the lights after dark yet, but I will check them out tonight.

I might even try to get a picture of one truck with the new housings, one without (as I think I will just finish one tonight at this point)

All in all, I am not sure I can recommend the lights yet, but I will say the customer service at HDC Auto Sports (or whatever their name is) was excellent.

I received my order, all in one box. The only issue is one has the same problem with the collar over the gear adjuster popping out. What type of glue did you use on this?

The lens material looks no thicker than the OEMs. I have not received the HID Kits yet, so I'll just wait until I get those to install these.

You indicated that you had reached a resolution with the Manufacturer. What was the resolution? Or did you just accept their explanation (lens material thicker) and moved on? I too would like to see Matuva's flush installation solution.
 
I actually got my shipping refunded. I explained to them simply - either they could take them back, refund all my $ and pay return shipping.... or they could just refund my shipping and i would keep them.

I used basic super glue to hold the collar in place. Seems to be holding just fine. I still have yet to adjust the lights, but in my driveway test last night with the 2 burbs side by side, I could see a difference in light output.
