Has anyone experienced this tire?

I put a set on about 40k ago. They're ok in snow but terrible on wet pavement. They're also loud from about 35 to 45 mph. I will be going back to BFG ATs when I replace these. Wasn't worth saving 50 bucks a tire.

On my Toyota Tacoma they lasted a good while but on my full size 3/4 ton Chevy I got about 70k or so out of them. I think you could get more than 50k out of them if the front end is tight. There does come a little roar with some miles but I never minded the roar.

I guess if you're at 40k, that's not too hateful, if you've still got life to go with them. One of our local tire dealers told me I wouldn't get good wear out of BFG AT KO2, so he, essentially, was talking me out of them. He did say, though, that they're better on wet roads than General Grabber AT2 and that they ride nicer, but longevity wasn't what they're known for. All that said, he runs the BFG AT KO2 on his GMC.

70,000 miles seems like a lot for a tire like this. What was your secret, Jaryd? Heck, that's a lot of miles, just since these tires were released in 2016. Did you even sleep?

Yeah- I LOVE bfg ko tires. Same experience from my pickups and suburbans. If they make 20"- guess what my wifes escalade will get.
If they made them in my size for the hummer- in a heart beat.
Years ago there was a rich dude that had a hummer, well a few hummers, he brought his personal mechanic and a trailer with multiple sets of tires mounted on rims. There were a few of us brought our hummers and we did a multi day, multi location testing comparison. If I can ever afford all new 17"rims instead of my 16.5s....
Currently run military take offs cuz they are cheap and I destroy too many tires on sharp rocks.

Only tire that was better for hummer was Goodyear GSA- but those are crap on pickups and jeeps. It takes a bunch of weight to make those worth while.

Running the Cooper AT3s in the rear, while burning off the remaining BFG ATs. Never got more than 35K out of BFG ATs on the Suburban. Way too many failures.

Hey man, just cuz she isn't afraid to get a rig stuck in the mud more often than you...hahaha.

I miss the trip to Big Bear. I just dont miss the rest of Cali I have to go through to get there. Tell her hi, and if you all miss working on the cabin, there is a house in Boulder City, Nv that could use your skills..., heck the material you through out was probably better condition than what is in mine still. Haha

I am NOT getting good wear out of the BFG AT KO2. I have 12k on them and they are near done.

Somehow that doesn't surprise me for you.. jk
Do you tow alot? Maybe the added weight? Heat should be similar for you and I. Mostly hiway miles for you? Mine had always been 40%city 50% freeway 10% offroad would be my guesstimate.

They suck as far as wear. 30K to 35K for me. The TreadWright versions were even worse. Once had a casing fail at 10K miles and the other 3 went 20K to 23K miles. I'm burning off the last TW right now. Then have another BFG with 20% tread left that I'll burn off. Then I'm onto the Cooper AT3s on all four.

Towing chews up the BFG ATs, but they don't last well even without towing.

Not much towing anymore for it. The stall converter hits hard... Regardless the life is short abuse factored in. IMO too much life is traded off for grip. (The Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor melted fast towing without a stall.) At the end of the day at least I get all the tread life out of them before they dry rot in this heat. 5 years is about max for tire life in this heat before the sidewalls look scary cracked up, start to separate, etc.

We don't have dry rot here. It's called Vegas sun tire stripes!
Just like no scratches are in/on my paintjob. Only Nevada pin striping.

The Cooper's I put on my wife's 4Runner have 46K miles on them and look like they will go 60K. We're happy with them.

It has good specs but I can't decide if I should stick with toyo tires open country or try other brands like that one.

I delivered a s#it ton of Toyo tires Open Country to mom and pop shops all over AZ... They are a heavy tire and well liked out here in AZ. Got a workout tossing these off the cargo trailer... I can't recall what I ran them on, but, they were decent tires on highway towing. Most of the other delivery drivers with 3/4 and 1 tons used them esp. as we got a discount on them. I believe they have a Diesel Truck tire out now marketed to people who always haul heavy.

Other tires I like would be the Cooper Tire Discoverer HT3 (And their older discontinued names of the same tread design) for on road towing. They wear evenly, are quiet, and have good grip in the rain. Life, average, isn't anything to write home about, but, it's better than the short lived tires mentioned above. They, Cooper HT3, do have a 50K mile treadwear warranty now and I'll be using it on the Dodge as I expect them to be done around 30k. Towing, extreme heat, and diesel power give me the shorter life.
