I hate to be THAT guy but.... I have the opportunity to buy a 02 C2500 full loaded crew cab for cheap. I know the front suspension is dang near exactly the same on a 2wd as a 4x4.

What parts are different? Does a 2wd frame have the mounting holes for a front axle? I know the transfer case and trans should be pretty straight forward other than wiring if I go push button and even that should be manageable I'd think but wiring isnt my strong suite.

What thoughts do you guys have? My thoughts are a 6.5 with custom center mount in front of a higher stall converter in a 4x4 GMT 800 as a project but I'd settle with a 2wd race truck if I had too.

It's doable, and has been done MANY times. I believe the passenger side mounts are not there, and must be added, but I believe the drivers side for the diff are there. You also have to swap out the hub bearings as the pre 07 hub bearings were different from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive.

Seems like a lot of work. Done right, I'd guess the cost would be near $2K to get this done.

I have the trans and tcase, the front axle is 3-600 and CV shafts aren't terrible and need to be replaced more ofen than not anyways as well as bearings.

If I was to add a 6" lift from zone that drops the axle will there still be a need for the missing pass side mounts?

I've seen 6.0 4x4 trucks for sale for 1500-2500 with various issues, a parts truck would almost be cost effective if I didn't have some parts already.

You would still need the mounts to connect the lift to. And newer trucks are alot more universal. Many of the duraburb guys are doing this.

What kind of wiring does it take to add push button 4x4?

I have a manual tcase but just curious since this truck has the center console and didn't want to take it out if I didn't have to.

For an 02 it would require some work to add in all the harness's, so you would pretty well be stuck finding a donor truck. Also you would be SOL unless you went with a period correct engine combo as the TCCM will not work without class 2 databus coms from the ECM and BCM.

So better off cutting a hole in the floor and finding a manual trans/tcase center console.

Then as far as I can tell I just need the 4lo trans signal.

My tcase is 06 or 07 classic and needs a pump rub case half. From a K2500 6.0
