I'm slowly collecting parts for a 6.2 swap into my 1971 Toyota FJ40. I'm planning to use an older GM bellhousing. I recently read somewhere (can't remember where) that the diesel starter nose will be too big for the gasser bellhousing starter location.

I currently have the bellhousing, but no starter to check with, unless I pull the starter out of my pickup. Does anybody have any info on this?

I belive the diesel starter uses teh same nose piece as the late model gassers use, and I know a late model(96+) starter nose will not go into an older GM gasser bellhousing. I don't know for certain as to wether or not the diesel starter will work though as I haven't actually tried it.
