Gasser MPG's?

2007 5.3 with 3.73's 14 around town and 18 to 20 on the highway depending alot on speed

My wife gets about 15.8 around town and 18-20 on the highway in an 06' 5.3 2wd tahoe with factory tires and wheels.

Well I'm driving the 4.3 in the half ton 2wd and we'll see how much mileage I can get. Since I've been driving this truck I have slowed down a lot! This truck has less than half the power of the dmax so when I go I don't feel the urge to smoke people out! Right now I've got just a shade under 3/4 of a tank and I've got abut 140 miles on it. So we'll see how she does.

Nope I don't wanna shift! That's why a smart person invented the automatic!!! IT's doing good and can't complain.

Oh, well, at least GM builds a great auto! :D

Good luck on the 4.3, i love mine. I think the main thing is don't treat it like a 350. I don't, and i get great mileage. The 4.3s are low on power, but are definitely not gutless. It can and has come through in a pinch a time or two. We bought a p-chassis bus, thought it would drive home, but the u-joint had been pulled to tow it, so we had to tow it home, and my 1991 was able to pull it home...in 5th OD. :driving:

Have fun with the new ride!

I filled it up for the first time today. Still had quite abit but was wanting to add some Injector cleaner in the tank so i decided to top it off. 187.2 miles and used 10.2 gal.=18.35 mpg. Not bad for mostly town driving and only one trip of any distance. So i am gonna change plugs and make sure everything is on the up and up and go from there.

Those are some good numbers!

I have the 5.3L V8 with active fuel managment and got just over 18 mixed driving on the last tank. I keep the cruise set at 70 on the highway and use a light foot in town. Like you said, when driving the gasser you don't feel like putting your foot in it all the time because there is no smoke.

Got a 4.8L Modified intake with a true ram air off grill.
Gutted cat and 3" cat back single exhaust.
20.7mpg driving speed limit

18mpg before

Had 4.3L > 21.5 mpg @ speed limit, plenty of power just won't pull a trailer

I had a 02 WT with a 6.0L and the MPG was awful, 10 to 11

friend of mine has that same truck. 02 wt, reg cab long bed 2wd with the 6.0. never gets better than 14 and thats 55-60 freeway mileage, empty. it will get up and boogy though for as light as it is and 2wd. scoots pretty good from 40-80.

I had a 2000 5.3 ext cab 2wd and got 15-16 mpg in town with a light foot. On the freeway with the cruise set at 70 I'd get 20-21 on long trips. BTW all hand calculated and also very close to what I get with my 2003 Duramax. Only difference is now diesel is $1.15more than regular. Diesel is now $5.19 a gallon, but when I bought the truck it was always less, especially in the summer. Feeling the burn.

I had a 03 6.0l ext cab 4x4 stock getting 16mpg...intake and exhaust added..18mpg...added 265/75/16s...mpg 12-14 city/16 downhill if lucky highway:cryin:

Bought my new lmm to solve these problems....14mpg (thanks dpf):mad2: Should have just bought used:dupe:

Don't tell my truck, don't want her to know:biggrin5:...I still love her...even with $5/gal:yesnod:

filled up yesturday, hand calculated i got 15.67MPG. you just have to take your foot off the go pedal.

Had a 2003 GMC 1500 4X4 5.3L 3.73 gears that was getting 19.8MPG on the highway before I traded it (At 13,800 miles) for the Duramax.

2004 2500hd, 6.0l 4l80e, 4x2 crew long, 75 mph 15.6mpg, pulling 7k 5vr on hwy 6.8 in mountains:svengo: and 9.2 level( in @ out of OD)

2006 k1500 lt 4x4 sub 5.3l stock in town 14.2 on hwy 75mph 19.5 hwy tires

1994 c3500 (truck in sig) 60mph hwy 18.2, pulling 11k gooseneck and tractor 11.5-12.3mpg @ 65-70 mph anywhere. but at $5 a gallon:willynilly:

i have a 97' Z71 with a 5.7 Vortec hand calculated i get 10.185185 MPG mixed driving, with a few go fast goodys and a noise ordinance problem

exactly 10.185185 huh? must be a huge calculator!:eek:11: anyway, i still love that bodystyle silverado never realized that the mileage was that bad in them though

We had an 03 LS 4x4 2500HD w/ 6.0 4L80E, Ext. Cab/Short Bed 13 was the best it ever got, 5 if pulling our horse trailer.

05 LS 4x4 2500HD Duramax/Allison, CC/SB, 19.1 i got road tripping one day, 300 miles on that tank, it was above a quarter still, about 62 on county roads, 75 on the freeway :D . Worst ever: about 8 pulling the water trailer. We put 500 miles on one day pulling our horse trailer halfway around the state for various reasons, and we never got below 12. Of course, that was w/$4.50 diesel. I still love that truck, tho. :D
