Just so I can understand it a little better, does anyone have a diagram or scan of the fuel system for a 1994 model? I have not traced out all the lines, but is it a non-return system? Anyone rework their fuel system to use spin on filters and a return type regulator just in front of the injector pump? Just don't want to re-invent the wheel if I don't have to.

The return line is from injector back to the tank.

Tank > Lift Pump > Fuel Filter > IP > Injector > tank.

There are members who put a Racor type fuel filter or Napa before Lift Pump, after stock fuel filter and also replacing the fuel filter completely.

You can search them.

No need for a regulator, the IP pump will suck the inlet down to 0 PSI at times.

What I'm thinking of doing is cutting out the old fuel pump, install a pre-filter, then an electric pump that can maintain at least 10-15 psi no matter what. Remove the fuel manager and use a prime-loc filter in it's place along with a fuel pressure warning system like used on a cummins w\ a vp-44. Then a bypass pressure regulator set to 9psi with the supply to the injector pump. the bypass off the regulator can go to the original fuel return. I'm thinking all common spin on filter elements that I can get at any parts store or tractor supply house.
