Yesterday Morning, while at work truck was running fine, had already drove about 50 miles and was just like normal. Then leaving a 4 way stop sign intersection, as I hit the throttle, the sputtered. I let off of it, waited about 2 seconds and rolled back into it, and it picked right back up. About 4 miles down the road, another intersection. I stoped, got on the throttle, and I made it about halfway through when it sputtered again, and this time when I let off and got back into it... nothing. I barely got through the intersection when the engine shut off and the first thing I saw when I looked at my gauges was the oil pressure was at 0. So I was worried that something happened to the oil pan, or somehow lost oil pressure. I got off to the side of the road and checked everything under the hood and under the truck.

I pulged the Smarty Jr. in, and checked for codes, got a P0628 (Low Voltage Detected at Lift Pump). So I looked on line for any diesel shops around in the area, and sure enough, there was one about 15 miles away. I got towed there and my first thought was to just get a replacement for the stock pump with another stock pump. But when I walked in, they had banners up for FASS Pumps and much more. I asked about the FASS, and said they do keep them in stock for my truck. So I decided to go with that, as I know the stock pump won't hold up to all that much fuel if I decided to run a big tune on here sometime.

I got a FASS 95 Series (Titanium Series), and really like it so far. I also like knowing that this pump can run for the life of the truck, as I got to read all the info of the pump and all the other products they sell and install while waiting for 4 hours. FASS claims that the pumps have been tested to run 13,000- 15,000 engine hours. All in all, I got the pump for $650, and was $450 for labor and they did a great job. A big thanks to Joe at Diesel Service Center in Bollingbrook, IL. Talked with him for about 10 minutes and him and all the guys working there really know their diesels. That is all they work on there. Not just big rigs, but as he put it, "If it burns diesel, we work on it." So I got another thing I wanted to add on to the truck. But this time it was something I actually NEEDED, and not just something I wanted. At least that is what I told the wife.):h

Glad it worked out for you Dave. You didn't need your wallet to be $1,100.00 lighter though...;)
At least the boss didn't have something to get suspicious over...

You made a good choice on the FASS.

The orginal FASS system was designed for OTR trucks and the components are hella stout.

I'm running the FASS 150 on mine and it's been great, no issues whatsoever.

I FINALLY had a customer call me up 2 days saying they had a bad pump. Come to find out, he screwed up everything you could possibly screw up (literally) and actually managed to destroy his pump, the CP3 and possibly several (all) of his injectors.

Let's put it this way....

electrical connections? BACKWARDS!
fuel lines? BACKWARDS!
pump housing? MANGLED!
pump vent? UPSIDE DOWN!

You'll be happy with that 95.

I'm not looking at making 1,000 hp, but I am looking at somewhere around the 400-450 hp mark. Will the 95 series be alright? I also want reliablity too. So I'm guessing I'm really shooting for the 400 HP range and maybe 850 or so ft-lbs of torque. I
450$ to install a Fass ? I think that was a little high no ?

It was about 3 hour install, and they made a custom mount for it as well. They did great work on it and I have no complants about it. Have had it on for almost a week now, and I have no regrets.

A 95 will do you just fine.

Any excess fuel that it doesn't send to the engine simply gets recycled back to the tank.

Lee's only charged my 200$ and I thought that was rape. Well, it was rape. Why did it need a custom mount ? I should have came with nessicary mounting hardware.

It might have been a little more for install than I wanted to pay, but I had a truck I need to be up and running for me to work, so I guess there wasn't too many options.

As for the custom mount, the 95 series that I have on, I guess is made for a Long Bed Cummins. There is one they make he said for Short Bed. He told me that I was the first short bed they mounted this on, and they had to modify it slightly, but it looks great, isn't going to move, and all I need to do is mock up a guard for it so it doesn't get coated with crap when off roading while at work.
