fuel line question

I've been meaning to make a bigger post about my project. maybe I'll get around to that but right now I have a question about fuel lines. I have a raptor lift pump and pre-filter from Leroy and it uses half inch rubber lines up to where they connect and go along the transmission up to The ffm. has anybody just used rubber line all the way up to the ffm instead of using the hard lines? are there any negatives to doing that?

I don't see any negatives in running all rubber hose along the frame to the FFM other than making sure it's rated for diesel. @Will L. can tell you the proper rating SAE numbers. I would just make sure it's secure and out of the way from getting snagged from road debris. Since you have it stripped down to the frame, you might conciser running stainless tube up the frame. putting a bubble flare on the ends for the hose to have something to clamp to and not slip off. that will ensure no rust or corrosion for the future.

There has been recent talk about gelling in colder weather, I would take the time and line the supply and return lines along with the filter you have on the frame with some heat tape and insulate them. at work we keep spools of the heat tape that you simply cut to length and attach a male 110 plug at the end and connect to an outlet to keep pipes from freezing. run that up and tie it into your block heater, even adding one or two of those self stick heaters on the tank that's used on RV water tanks and tieing those in too. This would insure you never have to worry about fuel delivery issues when left parked overnight in sub 0 temps. I know they make all that stuff that will operate off 12v too so if you ever need it and your not near a 110 sore power, just having this and a decent solar panel would help.

I think the stick on tank heaters only use about 45 watts and is about the same for the 12v heat tape too. so 100-150watts total, 300 watt solar panel to run that and a charge controller to keep the batteries topped off would work well affixed to the cab roof rack!
 
I bought the Air Dog kit from QuadStar tuning.
That kit came with 3/8ths and 1/2” hose.
There was enough 3/8ths hose to run to the back of the engine where I have the original FFM filter.
My FFM is the feed the beast unit from Leroy Diesel and came with the outlet adapted to the 3/8ths hose.
I could not see the sense in using the supplied fittings to take the fuel line size from 1/2” down to 3/8ths inch then back up to 1/2” then back down to 3/8ths inch at the IP.
So yeah, my system is set up with 3/8ths hose from the Air Dog lift pump to the FFM Then from the FFM to the IP and so far I have seen no ill affects.
