Did you hear the one about the Chevy with the accurate fuel gauge? Neither has anyone else- GM sucks on fuel gauges. Diesel ones suck, gas ones suck. You can clean all the grounds, and clean the connections in the harness, and you might get lucky. Chances are the sending unit in the tank needs to be replaced. AC Delco is the best, but the all suck- (guess how I really feel) It is just poor engineering. IMO, buy the metrum rod from Leroy, so you have it on hand until you have an empty Saturday to kill, and run the tank low as possible during the week. Then drop the tank, install the rod, loose the sock while your there and clean the tank. Then enjoy your long lasting and accurate gauge for time and eternity.
guy wants to take the box off back for me or just tilt it...needs adjustment anyway. truck runs better when almost out of fuel...why? Does it bypass sock when low?
The sock has a bypass iirc. It could be partially plugged. you can sometimes bend the arm and get then guage to read correctly, you have to lift bed to do it that way. I prefer lifting bed to dropping tank, most everybody else here has learned I'm crazy though...
I prefer lifting the bed as well. I definately crazy, but hide it. I installed a new tank a while back and hated R and R for the tank and Leroy's MRFSU and prefilter.
