Got it...that is for certain a option that I will pursue. I'm not thrilled about taking the inner fender off to gain access. My turbo has a tad of runout play & I may rebuild it, can I access that exhaust manifold to drill & tap it with the Turbo off?
shot,, it's only lie 13 13mm bolts holding that liner in,, and it will make taking the turbo off easier as well. I don't think you could do the probe from the top,, But I've been wrong before,, just ask my wife!

all you have to do is take out the innerfender liner the rubber part it makes it really easy i had to use a 12" 1/4 extension to extend my 1/8npt tap so that i could turn it easier
i was a little worried about metal fileings getting into turbo but every thing is ok but if your ganna take the turbo off then shove somerags donw there or something to catch them
I did mine while I had the engine out, so I didn't have to worry about shavings. But, I have read many times about guys either doing it with the engine running (to blow the shavings out) and/or using copious amounts of grease to catch/stick to the shavings. Frequent "pull-outs" to clean and re-grease should help.
Just relaying info I've seen - like I said, I can't give you first-hand advice.
