TIP:
don't buy the allison spin on filters at the dealer. contact your local big truck dealer and see if they can get them. most likely it'll be much cheaper. my filters cost $39.99 at the dealer and $8.xx at the big truck dealer.

Damn... I was gonna go looking for that to make sure we didn't "lose" it, but I see you brought it along...

Thanks

Anybody getting a good handle on all the DIYs?

im being dum....can you explain the differance between the 2 and 10 micron filters?

2 micron filters filter out smaller particles than a 10 micron filter. I am not sure why they have so many filters with so many microns, but I suspect if you run them in a line of filters, they filter out different sizes along the way.

Here is a link that describes it better than I can. ;)

RI Chevy,
i don't think that's the right number for the LB7 & LLY air filters. i think you've only got the LBZ filter number on there. the wix/napa filter numbers for the LB7 & LLY air filter are 6678 (napa) & 46678 (wix).

Ryan:
You are correct! My bad. The air filters mentioned are for 2006 and newer! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. The other fluid filters should be good for any year.

Thanks for the info. Wish I would have known that b/f:frown2:. Does the same apply to the fuel filters as well? I'm assuming so.

hit up fleet filter.com for fuel, oil and air filters. they sell napa gold (wix) filters for a lot better price than you will find anywhere else. i hope they're a vendor here because i'm sure they get a lot of our diesel business. i think its something like $6.xx for oil and $22.xx for a fuel filter if i remember correctly. rediculously cheap.

Going out on a limb here...how is the quality, same or better? (on the filters)

My son told me the filter on his LBZ is a larger filter than the LB7 filter on mine which is the newer version filter. He said it is not shaped the same. It makes me think it is something other than the standard filters. I think he installed a WIX on it the last time. He hasn't had the truck very long so there is no telling what it might be.

Are the filters different from the newer double pleat filters to the current LMM filters?

Thanks for the list. Good job. Did you make the filter part number corrections in the post?

George Morrison from AVLube.com ran some test on his truck a few months ago, comparing engine oil filters. He claims that as far as particulate filtration is concerned, the best engine oil filter he has found is the Amsoil EA052 -- He says that this filter is just about as good as running a bypass oil filter. But this filter costs $18.85 each.

I've been buying the WIX fuel and oil filters from FleetFilter. But I recently found out that my local Murray's part store sells the A/C Delco oil filter (PF2232) for $4.99 so I'm going to try them next.
