Leroy, just remember a few things when dealing with UPS and Canada:
- there is NO customs fee (duty) charged by Canada! (Auto Parts are a free-trade item)
- items which can be included in brokerage include HST (Harmonized Sales Tax), currently 12% in BC, I believe. HST isn't always included in a brokerage transaction, though; it may be separately billed to the end-user.
- UPS can charge a 'reasonable' fee for completing the brokerage paperwork. (note variable definition of word 'reasonable')
That's why we hate UPS. The exact same item, with the exact same value, weight, packaging, origin/destination can be wildly variable (from 15% to 80% of item cost) in terms of what gets charged out as brokerage. UPS has no explanation for this, usually defaulting, as (Walt does at SSDiesel) to blaming the Canadian Government or Border guys, which is patently false.
If you can get UPS to declare that entire amount up-front, and not send another bill to BJ later, then you've found a good way of going about this.
