Could it be harmonic balancer??

In your original post, you made reference to the shake acting like bad motor mounts. How do the mounts look? The passenger side mount on my 96 has been weak for a while, and it also has a pretty good shake at just off idle. I plan on replacing it sometime next week, so maybe I will know more.
 
I'm back... so the HB does not appear to be the culprit!... All is good down there.
Now we are thinkin maybe a bad fuel injector (or 2).

Just for giggles we did the IP test as explained in another thread (2000rpm idle down slowly... no real burps or erratic when done)

The motor mounts, David, appear to be solid and not a problem.

Is there a way of checking the injectors to see which is bad?? Will it throw a code??

The shaking is pretty much isolated to the idle and not at higher RPMs. Like hubby says, feels like it is missing. But when bring idle up it is less.. but like on the freeway I can still feel it ever so slightly... like it's missing.
No spitting or spudders... though over the last 6 months or so it has gotten slower getting on the freeway. She is not as quick as she used to be!

If the engine is missing, it will throw a code. I forgot which code but the crankshaft position sensor is sensitive enough to pick up changes in engine speed due to faults like an injector failing.

Are you getting any codes? If so, what are they? That could take us in an entirely different direction.
 
The way to test for a bad injector is to crack the line at the injector while the engine is running. If knock goes away injector is bad.

Good point, I have already changed it twice in 6 years, plus new driveshafts a year and a half ago. IIRC last time it was bad I couldn't feel anything wrong with it, but finally noticed it was getting really hot.
I'm really hard on drivelines. Too old to change now.
