Coffee

When camping, we go through about 10-12 gallons of coffee a weekend. My Father-in-law came across a commercial BUNN coffee maker. Like something you would find in a gas station or restaurant. The bottom pot is the one under the filter and grounds and is the fresh coffee, then there are two warming spots on the top. Who ever is the first up will get the first couple pots going, then we also have a couple theomos' that keep coffee warm all morning. A couple of us will bring about 3-5 gallons of water each and that will make it the whole weekend. We enjoy coffee in the morning.

I just use a flat bottom filter holder and boil up a pot of water on the camp stove. Once the water is hot, I pour through the filter into my thermos. No grounds and the coffee stays hot...I make up baggies of 1 filter and the right amount of grounds at home so there is no measuring at camp.

A buddy of mine had a "travel mug" that was actually a little french press. Throw the grounds into the mug, add hot water, put the lid on and after a few minutes, press the plunger down. Thought that was a pretty neat solution for backpacking....

Men I will now let you in on my little secret! ;) I'm a Folger's instant man. I make it a couple of different ways. Sometimes I will warm 2% milk and add the coffee..Now don't knock this until you try it. It's pretty darn tasty. Other times I just heat up water and add equal parts coffee and cocoa. This I can swap around to my mood...More coffee or more cocoa. I have also played around with the "gucci" instant coffee mixes but they weren't that good. I have the 10 cup percolater also but use no filters........Real men spit out the grounds.. It's on the man card!;):patriot:

Ya never heard heard of John Wayne complaining about coffee grounds in his...coffee. Sheese.....:nopity:

About how long does it take? and in your opinion, is it worth the money?:)

I don't remember how long...just remember thinking (When is that thing going to be done!) it's been a while since I used it. I have a generator now:D
Yes it was worth the money and the wait, to me.
