Chevy Full Floating Rear Axle - 1936

Watching this video - super interesting, I think and I notice the chains on the rear axle.

How wise or unwise is this idea? Would it make more sense to install an anchor point for chains/straps on the axle, or better to leave it above the suspension so it doesn't destroy the drivetrain?
