Canadian made Block?

I called the shop and no they do not cast engine blocks.. From what I understand there maybe a Canadian distributor for the "made in China" blocks.

if there is a company machining blocks here it would be ''les moteurs rm''..... they are in montreal north....

whats the difference if they are made in my '' backyard '' or not? maybe for someone that is shopping for a new block, but for 98 percent of us we take used iron and make due... not every 6.5er is full of money... i think that is the reason most of us have 6.5l diesels in the first place..... if it is that important to you to know where the blocks are cast...search.. it is just as easy for you to find out as anyone else... thats what the internet is for...:thumbsup:

My whole point was he's is advertising cast and machined in Canada. Who better to find out than someone who lives close by. The internet is good but there are still holes that it can't cover. You just said he told you Brazil if he's reputable he should be willing to tell where they are cast.

and we have also talked to jeff at 6.5l and the blocks he sells are cast in Brazil and finished in a shop in the ''montreal area'' IMO as long as the blocks are not cast in china its all good... also as a side note he told us that the blocks are cured 4 months so they are stable before machining..... that was gm's biggest problem is that the blocks were not allowed curing time before they were machined, thus the cracking issues...

Any reputable company will be glad to share who they are partnered with in a venture like this. If they're crooked, then they won't share the information, simply because of fear that someone will attempt to buy direct. The thing is, though, that if there is a good relationship, the manufacturer won't do business with anyone except the company they're in business with. Much the reason it's a partnership. The other reason they wouldn't share is because they know their manufacturer is cut rate. All the machining in the world doesn't cause the casting to be of high quality. If the cast material is bad, then the whole piece is bad. There are exceptions, though, such as paper weights and... ...well, I guess I can't think of any others.

All that being said - If the only choice is a chinese casting, then find an old used one (OEM) or do a gasser transplant - period. If the casting is from Brazil, then you've got a MUCH greater chance of the quality being what it should be. Our experience on chinese castings over several years (on things that are not rocket science) is that they're TRASH.

here is the number and address, i am not sure if they speak english there or not.... we are just scraping together cash to go and have our block machined, when we are there, we will ask them about this and find out what is going on.... we will get the answers!!!!:boxing_smiley::twak:

yep, i see your point, we will investigate further when we can scrape up the $$$$ to get our block machined at RM, money is a little tight right now... as we are landscapers,renovation,tree-trimmers and maybe grass-cutters.... seasonal employees, in the winter we turn wrenches out of the shop to get by and this weekend we have clients coming to give us dough..LOL
