well what a horrible, messy job. I have to say and I know I'll catch crap for this , but if you don't have a block heater don't try this. It was not fun. I got it done but I nearly knocked the freeze plug into the block. That thing was rusted in there solid and did not want to come out. I drilled a 3/8 hole in it while coolant was still so the shavings would come out. I then drained the rest of the coolant. I used a 5lb Slap Hammer on it for 10 mins and it would not budge. I really thought I was going to be torching it out. I finally got it loose by driving it in a little but it nearly went all the way in. Once I got it out I took a small magnet and stuck it in the hole to make sure I got all the drillings. Once it was out the rest was easy but getting a rusted in for 20 something years freeze plug out in truck is not for the faint of heart. My advice would be to just buy a inline heater. Had I known what a bitch this turned into I would have done just that. That said the new one went in nice and easy and so far no leaks and it works nicely. I used a paint strainer to clean the anti freeze. As you can see there was debris. I tested it at -25f. I may drain some and put some fresh in. Would like to see max of -45f even though it will never get that cold here.
