ATT Heat Shield...?

Hey, Veg_Out / Slim, have you considered to make a heat shield for the ATT....? Well,, I would like one...:D

The turbo really doesn't generate that much heat into the engine compartment, at least on my application. Some guys are using a heat blanket to wrap the turbo.

I'd like to wrap mine up before install with a little something maybe...

There are cheaper options, I found a generic turbo blanket for less than $40, just the turbo part, didnt come with wrap for the elbow. I think same one is on Jegs.

This is the best example I've seen of a "stitched" installation.

Clearly one could install this for a lesser purchase price compared to the DEI Titanium T4. But I'll bet there is a great deal of time involved to make it look as nice as mutuva's. This would certainly knock down the radiant heat shining everwhere, perhaps slightly better than the gm-x sheild. As for the time, it's a hobby anyway, right?

I suspect the technology in the Titanium setup may do a better job of retaining heat for reducing turbo lag and improving launch. The Titanium blanket should go on quite easily, but the elbow wrap would be an equal challenge for either vendor, or any vendor for that matter.
 
It looks like mutuva wrapped after installation. Or perhaps installed to get the turbo outlet elbow orientation dialed in, then removed to wrap. You can clearly see from his photos that the silver turbo wrap covers the elbow wrap. I guess one could wrap the elbow, set it on the turbo, stitch your blanket to fit with turbo on the work bench, install turbo, orient the pre-wrapped elbow, then reinstall blanket and tighten the wires? I am confident that I can put my blanket on after the turbo is installed. I'll have to get back to you all later on how the outlet elbow wrap goes.

Yes, the wrap and blankets were installed after the A-Team was in and running.

Not too difficult. Must confess, my best mechanic actually installed. He has one of those elevated creepers. Not fair!!

I do need to add some photos to show where the wrap is around the turbo exhaust inlet flange. We wanted to shade the oil drain hose from the glow. Also added some hose cover to oil drain hose on the rear side and tied in place with stainless steel wire left over from the DEI kit.

X2!! I'm sure you could easily come up with a pattern to fit the ATT. You could fit it better than the DEI as you can see this is for a generic T4. Also, you could make the outlet elbow wrap a blanket instead of a wrap. Make it long enough to go down over the down pipe a little ways? Come on... you know you can do it... it's too late for me as I already have the one installed and another in the box, but I'm sure you could do it better for less.
