A few days after I bought my truck, I replaced the clear DRL bulbs with some conventional Wagner 3157NA amber bulbs. A week ago the pass side one burned out so I picked up a pair of long life Phillips 3157NA bulbs. I put 'em in this eve.
I wonder how long these "LONG LIFE" ones will last since the first set made it to a couple of weeks shy of 5 years and 162,000 miles.:hihi:

Damn these suckers run awfully hot don't they? I noticed part of the the sockets were nicely 'browned' but otherwise sound and the gasket was plenty flexible.

I still have all of my OEM bulbs in there too. I did change out the low beams with HID's from James though last year. I have not had a bulb burn out yet.

WOW! 5 years and 160k+ miles is quite impresive Mike! Mine seems to have the tendency to eat bulbs.

I never changed out a bulb either once I put the amber bulbs in mine. In fact, I took the bulbs out of my 04 and put them directly into my 07 right there on the dealership lot. The salesman looked at me like I was a loon.

And I had that truck for 3 years and they were still running strong, if I remember right. I did do James' pin mod keeping both filaments on at the same time.

However, I really never ran those lights. I'd turn them off pretty much 90% of the time and only really used them when it was cloudy or at dusk. They were scorched too. I always wondered why they ran so hot.

When I was Running Halogen DRL's I was Using the Amber Silverstars. They have a Cool Ion Coating On them that make the Reflector all Different Colors. Those had a Ceramic Base on them and even they Showed Signs of being a lil Charred.

DRLs in the Camaro went 6 years. Bought a set of the Sylvania LL (clear) and they are still chugging along 5 years later.

Holy crap Mike! I have to change out bulbs every once in a while on our truck. Probably on the 5th set of DRL bulbs and the 3rd set of low beams. Our truck gets a fair amount of jarring around on crappy terrain however, so I'd guess that has something to do with it. I also run Amber DRL's with the pin mod.
