Air intake opening?

How big of an air intake opening do I need? Im building a poor mans Banks super scoop...Mines opening just under the license plate..Its about 13x4....Is that big enough? Im gonna run 3in tube from it to the stock air intake(i got K&N filter)...Is it big enough to breath? Im not going for super duper best intake, just doing a poor mans upgrade...OH ps, its about 4in deep too, gonna put a baffle in it to direct the air over to the hose from the other side...so its kinda functional on both sides...
