I'm a chevy fan, but my brothers and I own a 99 Ford F-350 with a dump bed on it. We use it for hauling mulch, sand, stones to customers. It's a 7.3 powerstroke, manual 5-speed and we would like it to have a little more power (20-60hp). I have a PPE for my Silverado, but we don't want to fork over that kind of money for this truck. Suggestions are welcomed.......

Thanks men!:patriot:

I have looked at all the different ford programmers, and I really like the Edge Evolution (new style). Its give a decent boost in power, and also displays boost, egt and other data, so you dont really need gauges.

I'm just looking for one of the cheaper chips for the truck. We aren't too worried about gauges or anything since we only want 20-40 hp.

Why not try a TS Performance 4 bank 6 position chip. I have apretty good price on them, and you can choose from several tuning/safety options with one. Let me know if I can help

X2 on the evo. Very nice chip for those trucks, especially now they have the attitude monitor with it. I ran the juice and evo stacked on mine. Gotta strait pipe it also!

Get a TS Chip/DP-Tuner/Tony Wildman/DI chip for it, you'll be very happy. Look around on some of the Ford sites and you can find some great used deals!!

I've got one of those on a 95 F 350, Its does a decent a job gives you that little extra you are looking for at a decent price.

Thanks for the info guys! I definitely appreciate it...I love my PPE for my Duramax, but don't wanna spend too much money to get 20-40HP. Thangs again!

what other mods do you have done?

I can walk you though getting 40HP+ and only spending a couple of bux.

I just bought a ´96 powerstroke. It´s got plenty of power. While I´m always interested in more power, with today´s prices, I have no desire to burn any extra fuel. Are there any chips or mods that increase fuel economy?

Basically all programmers and chips will give you a great deal of increased fuel mileage as will doing an exhaust system on your OBS.

Chips work much better on the 7.3 PSD than what programmers do. Chips being the actual chip that that goes into the PCM and it controlled by a flip dial you install in your dash or where desired. DP tuner, TS performance and tony Wildman are basically the top tuners on the market. I myself only run DP tuner, but we are dealers for DP and TS performance.

We can certainly put together a nice package with intake, exhaust and Chip for rather inexpensive for your truck.

We also stock superchips, Hypertech, Edge products and SCT for your hand held programmers.

If you want to just do a hand held I would suggest the Edge Evolution. You can typically expect gains of 2-4 MPG depending on your setup and how you drive.

If you have any questions of if I can help PM me.

Thanks
Shawn

How do chips out perform programmers?

I looked into the brands that you mentioned. There´s no information as to what their product actually does on the dp tuner site. TS performance was informative. And Tony Wildman seems pricey with little info on fuel savings.

It seems like these websites are directed towards guys who already know the ins and outs of tuning their trucks. As a shopper, I wish they had more straight forward product descriptions.

The key features of a chip is first off it is selectable when MOST programmers are not. programmers are tuned for a wide range of vehicles. where a chip is tuned for your specific year. Example the edge evolution will fit model years 97-03. from 97-early 99 the injector size was much smaller than 99.5 -03 as was the turbo. Programmers have a wide range of transmission tuning. This is why you likely will hear people complain about how there truck shifts after installing a programmer.

Chips are custom tunable. If you put single shot injectors in an 99-03 PSD you will need a chip that is burnt for those injectors as they work completely different than factory split shots. Trans tuning is 2nd to non. My pressures can be raised or lowered anytime to get me the desired trans feel. The ICP pressure can be controlled. So if you are thinking of adding steath or terminator HPOP's this would be your best option. The chip will also allow you to get specific tunes for an application such as towing and give you different towing power levels for heavy or lighter towing.

Most programmers only allow 3 tunes in there box except for the edge juice with attitude.

You can have as many as 16 tunes to chose from with DP

I have
stock
high idle
Lopey idle
Drive thru
EBPV Closed - Exhaust brake
40 tow
60tow
80 tow
80 econo- 4 MPG increase
120 race
and 140 extreme

I also have a custom down shift tunes added to each HP level. I really like how the 5R110 shifts on Tow Haul. so with some fine tning my 4R100 acts exactly like my 5r110 in the 6.0

In the end DP is the way to go if you are planning some HP mods down the road or want the finely tuned trans that is offered. The 80 eco has more power than a super chip on it's highest level and yield low EGT's and awesome milage gains.

TW does some good tuning but does NOT offer some of the features of DP. But he will retune for no charge. If you ask me your just paying for it up front as he is more expensive than DP. I have had both tunes and would not Trade my DP for any other chip or program on the market. Hands down Jody is the man.

If you have more questions post up

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I didn´t know that programmers weren´t necessarily vehicle specific.

Now this is about the finest example of 'customer service' I've seen in a while.

We have products for the Big 3 but specialize in PSD's. I'm a former GM tech and have done alot of work on the proving grounds.

Thanks a lot Nick. I really try to pride my business in getting the customer what works best for them for the money. It's not all about sales or upselling to a more expensive product. It's about the customer needs!!

Thank again guys, post up PSD questions and I'll do my best to answere them or diagnos any problems you maybe having.
