Has anyone else replaced their fuel filter head o rings?

I took mine out, and they were visibly cracked.

I also noticed this same cracking with an o ring on my TDI. Common theme is that I run B80 in both.

Anyone else seen BD eating their o rings?
 
What ever happened to the line 'most everything made after 1998 had viton rubber'?
