A Couple Additions To My Fleet

Yes, that's right I bought something other tan a 6.5 or a John Deere.:yikes::yikes: I bought 2 Volkswagons this past weekend. One 87 Cabriolet convertible w/ 1.6? gas motor and a 85 Golf 2 door Diesel n/a. :WTF: :rolleyes5:
The Cabriolet runs pretty good and drives excellent. It has 2 rust spots on the driver's side. 155,000 miles. 5 speed manual trans. Shifter needs some help. 1st gear is very hard to find. Should get 30+ mpg easily.
The 85 Golf runs good once it warms up[bad glow plug or injector leaking down] It is quite rusty on the underside. It has 190,000 miles. It is also a manual 5 speed car. It should be very stingy on fuel. Should get around 50 mpg or better. It needs front tires[$30 each] and a brake master cylinder to be driveable. Of coarse I like the diesel better than the gasser.:agreed::skep:

Yes, you are correct the Cabriolet never was offered with a Diesel. It would be bad ass to drop one it it! :thumbsup:

My buddy had one of those diesels. He last had 455K on it and still running strong and getting 48 mpg. Not to fast from a stop, but they run strong.

The diesel isn't a dog at all to me. The tranny is very close ratio. You can skip a gear no problem on either of them. No overdrive. I got the pair for $1200.
My plan for the diesel is to find a rust free diesel body with a blown engine. Lots of life left in it at 200,000 miles.

Very nice!
I picked up this little car circled about a year back. Got off my g/f's parents for free. The car did have issues, something popping/clicking, no brakes, ran rough, exhaust was falling off and had a gas leak. It was a 1990 Plymouth Colt. Had 3 pulleys on the engine, crank, water pump and alternator. Was a 4-speed, no OD. I replaced all the stuff on the car (brakes, 1-cv shaft, gas lines, exhaust, tune up and a ball joint) all for 350 bucks. Drove it for about 3 months getting solid 40MPG's plus. Loved the car, i sold it for 650. I shouldnt have.... I miss it. Got made fun of all the time...
