I have a 1999 GM 1500, 5.3, new body style that would lock the doors when driving but wouldn't unlock them when put in park or shut off like it was supposed to.

Changed the BCM (Body Control Module) for one out of my 2001 parts truck because i was told that the 99's didn't have a relay or anything that you could just change out to fix the problem but it was possible with the 2001 and newer ones.

Now when i turn the truck over it instantly fires up but then dies also instantly.

Is there any way i can fix this without taking it to a dealer?

False alarm. I did a theft deterrent relearn and it runs like a charm again.... for those who might be having this same problem its easy to fix:

1. Bump the starter with the key but leave the key in the run position.
2. Wait 10-14 minutes until the security light goes out.
3. Turn the key off and wait 1 minute (minimum).
4. Repeat steps 1-3 an additional 2 more times (3 in total).
5. The truck should start up no problem on the 3rd try.
