I just got my 97 C3500 today.. I know the turbo has the big silencer tube, how do I remove that? What do I plug the hole with? What have you fellas and gals done? Thanks!

Freeze plug is what I was thinking, what did you use Gerald?

Well when I figure out how to block mine off, Ill sell ya a spare!

I cut the end of the tube off and used that to plug the hole and it's free.

anyone got any pics?

this is my solution. Ed

http://www.dieseltowingresource.com/showthread.php?t=629 post 10, fits the id pretty tight, coat ID with some black RTV, then worm screw clamp around the outer edge of the rubber to clamp it tight, then black RTV to seal it/ make it kind of have a OEM look about it, pic here was before I finished coating with RTV

Lots of ways to solve the problem, I like the "cup" style freeze plug p/n in part point was maybe $3, and the "rim" of the cup is a sturdy place to clamp to,& won't crush if you put a lot of oomph on the clamps worm drive screw.
