93 6.5 help plz

Which ip do you have, ds4 or db2 determines part of the answer? but...
Gonna have you hit the brakes a moment. misdiagnosed bad ip is way common.
what is it that leads you to believe you need an ip?

1993 should be a db2. Here is a video that explains the basics. This is for a 95 not a 93. Both pumps mount in the same.

Sputtering out wount climb a hill and stalls under any load and not so easy to start up until it cools down and the video was helpful thanks

I also have a 96 suburban 6.5 I think has a bad lp or tank sock was running great then sputtered out and wouldn't start no fuel to t Handel

start by checking fuel flow and pressure out of the drain T from the fuel filter. Could very well be an Oil Pressure Sender issue or a bad Lift Pump or both. Also make sure your grounds are clean while not as important on a DB2 IP it can create power supply issues as well. OPS controls the LP and can fail or even go intermittent.

I did that any where from what feels like 4 to 8 lbs of pressure coming from lp haven't checked or thought of checking oil sender tho

Fuel filter condition?
You need to verify if the lift pump is supplying the pressure. A bad lift pump will cause failure of injection pump, so even if you need an IP, don't damage the new one. Buy a pressure tester for $30. Take the hose off the back of the IP and pump into a container to measure volume flow from LP.
If the engine is hot and it wont restart, does pouring cold water on the IP allow it to start while the rest of the engine is up to temp? If you are 100% that you have proper pressure and flow at the IP inlet, then suspect the IP.

If you do come to conclusion of bad IP, you might ask for suggested suppliers to avoid rip off places. Also depending what you are going to do with truck, this could be the time to make an upgrade you will enjoy later.

Do not have the IP rebuilt unless you know for sure they do a new head and rotor. Those parts are not replaced by most places and a rebuild will help for a little bit, then fail again soon after. The cold water is tightening the clearance of the head/rotor.

Do the pressure/flow test still first.

Maybe something else to check I cant think of right now...

Are you wanting to just put around the truck or would a bit more power be in your desired list?

More power defiantly but not for a while need the cash first just want too get it running first

When my truck started having difficulty starting I was pouring water on the IP. It would fire right up after the water was poured all over the IP. Then one day it barely started and I was tired of messing with it. This went on for over 6 months. I went to O'Reilly's to have my batteries checked. One was reading 0 volts and the other was at 11.2. I put new batteries in and all my hard starting problems went away. Check your batteries and cables. These 6.5 vehicles are voltage thirsty to start.

New batteries but I will double check to make sure I don't have connection problems but me batteries and new fuel filter is the only new that is on the truck for now I'm putting new injectors on it later and glow plugs because I don't the guy I got it off of

Just take the time to do the research on things like others above mentioned, also on buying the best IP for you $ if that is where this ends up going. Same for Lp or whatever you might need. Other than a couple of people here most of us keep these engnes due to our (ahem)"frugal" nature of mechanics.

iirc step by steps here:http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/th...-repair-manual-6-2-l-and-6-5-l-diesels.25481/

feed the beast mod, while you are there:http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/feed-the-beast-part-i-part-ii-improve-fuel-to-ip.572/

Glow plugs: only bosch duraterms 80034 or AC Delco 60g. don't waste $ on anything else. I don't think glow plugs are your current problem.

I tried accurate diesels "special glow plugs" before, they wont tell you what they are till they have the $. I don't send repeat business to secretive companies like that. I now am happy with bosch instead. I wont recommend accurate. Always check with http://leroydiesel.com/ here first for best service and usually best pricing. On the IP, there are others here that have good recommendations, even if you have to wait a day or so for the response, well worth it with the expense and importance of the IP.
