Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I just bought a 92 Subaru SVX LS, with awd and 130k miles on it for $900 last night. I offered 8 before handing over the cash, he said 850, and I only had 100's, (and he helped me load in the cold rain), so I just handed over the $900. Needed a new battery and needs a new cv axle (or joint) - sounded like all those times I broke a driveshaft on my jeep, only it was coming from the passenger front wheel well. Car started right up, everything electronic appears to be working (slight fuzz in the passenger rear speaker). Even the fog lights work. I haven't figured out how to lock the steering wheel in the upper most position, which is the only position I can fit my long legs in..

When loading on the trailer, the front tires slipped on the wet metal ramps. (Read online that the usual power distribution is 90/10 front/rear, but will redistribute to a maximum of 50/50 when needed.) Shifted to 1st gear and it crawled right up the ramps, no problems.

Transmissions overheating on these was a huge deal. Didn't have the option of a manual transmission because it couldn't withstand the stock 230hp, but the auto still had overheating issues. I'm planning on changing the fluid to synthetic, maybe adding an additive (if I feel that it'll work), and an aftermarket tranny cooler, if I can find a place for it, and if I can figure out how to hook it in.

The spoiler looks horrible - looks like all the paint is off, so it looks like I'll be learning on how to repair fiberglass. If it appears to be a decently dependable vehicle (once I'm finished), and too tight for my long legs (I'm 6'3"), I'll probably try and sell it for $4k-$5k, or less if I sell it to a future brother-in-law or cousin that both are shorter than me.

(I'll add pictures when I get a chance. Right now I only have the one which the car is on the trailer. BTW-uhaul auto transports are nice! Seems I've used them before, but I forgot about the folding fender....pulled the car on, crawled thru the window, than rolled the window up and left the key in the ignition for the drive back. Figured out the fender to unload it though, haha.)

Thanks! We'll see how good the transmission is once I replace the passenger front cv shaft which is coming from Texas, through NAPA. (NAPA was only a few bucks more than rockauto)

(Already have it on craigslist - not trying to sell, but seeing if anyone bites..)
And it's a 1992 Subaru SVX LS-L with only 130,000 miles! ; touring with all the options-that all work.

230hp, automatic, power everything And everything works!! (minus driving - but even though I haven't had time to pull the tire off to inspect it, it really does just sound the axle shaft is not together.. The cv shaft is $180, but $80 is core charge.. I plan on changing it no later than next week and start daily driving it.)

Sunroof opens and closes (requires a little help getting up and going back down - but slides fine). All 4 windows work, all the lights work, radio and speakers work, and when I shift, there isn't a lag. Antenna goes up and down, windshield sprayers still work. Though I haven't tested the cd player, I'm assuming it works. There's anothern in the trunk. The window buttons are a little loose or missing, but again, minor. Also, the paint has chipped/peeled off the top of the spoiler, and there is a hole in the heavy plastic rear bumper - top driver side.

As soon as I know it's drivable, I'm removing the good and bumper covers and giving it a good bath.

Did you try RA?
Is that your folks place? Nice view there...

RA?

And thanks! Yea, this is my folks place. It's/it'd be a nice place to stick around and take care of. From the pictures you wouldn't know that there's a highway up against the property, haha.

My beef with RockAuto anymore is their shipping charges have gotten exorbitant. I usually add it all up and then compare, and it's usually not worth the wait for the extra $5 I'd spend at NAPA.

I went through all the motions to place an order with RA this week including the discount and shipping and THEN went over to amazon and priced out the same stuff as shipped and saved 15% or thereabouts. RA is handy for part #s if nothing else...

Sometimes they have better prices, but anymore, I find it a little reassuring that if I have a problem with the part, or ordered the wrong part, I like to be able to go straight to the store and try again, instead of over the phone or via internet.
