What's the difference between 7G & 8G glow plugs?

I checked application and it looked like they overlap.

I have a set of new 7G's sitting here on the shelf and was going to use them in the Tahoe as apposed to buying anew set.

The 60G plugs are the only thing you will normally find now in the parts houses.

On ocasion you will see some original 11G's online at ebay

If I were, I will get some Bosch Duraterms. It is less than $8 each shipped from RockAuto. Part no. 80034 and mfg = Bosch. This is cheaper than 60G.

I've been running 8G's for years. Apparently I may have run 7G's a long time ago.

Do the 60G's pretty much never swell?

I've never had a stuck plug but that's because I pull them all every 2 years to make sure they are tip top shape. If they weren't I pitched them and put new in.

Will I be safe running these 7G's for 2 years?

11+ G aren't supposed to swell, 11's do not last like a 60 as it is not self regulating, 11s that came from GM in my 98 did not swell when they went bad; will a 7G last 2 years ???

I don't know, do you have a sacrificial one you could put to a battery and glow test it a couple of times, if running the 7G I'd be putting a new glow control relay in it so that any pitting of the contacts would not make them glow any longer than possible, also verify ECT is working, bad ECT will make them glow longer as well.

Battery test it for a couple of glow cycles like the glow control would to see how they glow, then as a last test hit it full on to see how long it takes to burn out or swell, remember whole thing gets hot I'd use vise grips or similar to hold it with gloves, and you'll need to take direct to the battery to get full current jumper 10 ga wire to center of glow and other to + of the battery, then touch the vise grips to a good gnd.

If you have a high current capable battery charge then you might could usse that as well, but direct to battery is real world what the glows could see.
