Did it sound like a cement mixer full of bowling balls?
.Haha yea exactly!! It rarely gets 7 degrees around here, so I had to leave it unplugged just to see how it would do! When its cold like that it actually sounds like my 1964 John Deere 1010 Diesel starting! the tractor has the original motor still so I dont know if them sounding the same is good or not LMAO
-20F here last night. My suburban doesn't have a block heater. But I do keep it in the garage and start it for 10 minutes or so before going to bed. Wife takes it to work when it gets that cold out because it gets good and warmed up by the time she gets there. Then on her lunch hour she takes it to go shopping. The glows aren't that good anymore with 220,000 miles on her.
I think keeping it out of the wind an in a garage at night really helps. The wind takes the heat away from the engine. But if I left it in the garage at -20 for two days without starting I don't think it would start. I have left it for about 12 hours at those temps and it starts after about 3 tries. I don't like doing that.
It was like -35F one night when we were deer hunting and didn't have anywhere to plug in so we let the 92 I have run all night with the heater on. The beer sitting on the front seat was froze when we got up.
I like the sound of these trucks when they are cold. The neighbors have mentioned the rattle these trucks have when I leave early in the morning. When I drive by their house I just touch the throttle alittle bit up and down and smile as I drive by.
.
I drove from St Louis to Jefferson City last night. Lowest temp I saw on the rental car was 4 F just before Kingdom. Brrrrrrr. Everything is covered in salt. I feel so sorry for your trucks out here.

I would hate to see how bad all of that salt would corrode the frame right out from under a truck!!
I-44? A lot of the bigger citys just put salt down and call it good and dont bother actually plowing roads haha. Good thing about the part of the state I live in they dont put salt down, just fine gravel for traction. I would hate to see how bad all of that salt would corrode the frame right out from under a truck!!
