6.5 w/o snorkel question

Servicing the filter on Dad's 1998 made me think, on the 6.5s with snorkel removed, where do the leaves and other crud go when they are sucked in? Can they build up in the fender and get wet and rust?

If so, how hard is it to clean out?

I doubt the '98 even has a snorkel. I have never had an issue with anything building up in the fender.

actually, the 1998 is a gasser, the leaves and crud just got me wondering about dad's 93 and my 95 6.5. and how it would be affected by trash with no snorkel.
