6.5 Newbie

After my rear axle gets built, then the Dana 60 gets worked over. Then my spring set needs to get built and hopefully by the Fall I have a rolling chassis. Then I can start working on the drive train. There is a motor available here in McCall but we shall see on that one. I am leaning real strongly to one of the take-out motors from Teds Trucks.

The 6.5 is a good motor, but the "C" is a world class engine. For same money outlay its a nobrainer for me. Actualy the Dmax would be my first choice if it was'int so expensive. Heres some daddy Koolaide. :cheers2:
 
No doubt, the Cummins is a good engine. If you like the sound of a tractor. :) And no doubt that any used diesel engine can be a crap shoot. At the end of the day I may very well just get a new motor and be done. What I have learned in my life is that everyone has an opinion. Each of us has narcissistic tendencies and for us males, we want to be right. What makes us unique is our wanting to be unique. In how our trucks look, sound and drive. What hardware, etc. What are the goodies. To each of our own. I had to make a decision to keep my project going and that includes using the 6.5. Now I want to have the best driving 6.5 truck around without using a computer or electronics. The engine will be, if not new, a gut check moment. And to be sure, my comments are not directed at anyone on this or other boards. Just a few people I have run into lately in my life.
 
I love the tractor sound :hihi: and you right everyone wants to be different or thinks they do, in the end "most" do exactly whats been done a hundred times before mostly because of the learning curve when tring something new.
Don't get me wrong I love the 6.5 and have owned them since 1992. I only suggested a Cummins or Isuzu to you because you were starting out without an engine. If your good with a 6.5 then thats all that matters, it will serve you well.

If you are seriously into something new PM me. There is something that may be just up your alley, not the cheapest but most certainly will be unique to me and you. I am not selling you anything.
