6.2 van engine vs truck

The van/Hummer difference is all because of the turbo being center mount instead of side mount. No turbo back then so no reason to alter the headbolts or intake. The 6.2 used in hmmwvs were the same as the 6.2 in pickups except the bolt ons like starter, alternator, etc.

The oilpan is different than pickup ones, for 6.5 turbo and N/A, but I do not remember on 6.2.

The ffm on vans were different location, so the intake manifold might not have the 2 mounting tabs, look for that.

It may matter on the year esp with a transation 599 block that could be either a 6.2 or 6.5. The pickup truck turbo compatible head casting number for those years, under the valve cover of course, is 10137567. Maybe others, but, this is the number I am looking at with the project truck heads at the moment.

Thanks for the info. I am watching for a good parts truck. My engine build is going slow (like one evening every other week LOL) so I will hopefully have time for a really good buy to come along.
