(6/01/09) Now that GM has declared bankruptcy, would you buy another GM vehicle?

Yes, BUT I have NEVER purchased a new vehicle so it would not make a difference to me as EVERYTHING I have ever owned has been at least four years old and out of warranty by the time it has been titled in my name! I would have to say yes right now, I don't intent to buy anything in the near future but I hope they are around when I do and the goverment doesn't screw them up anymore then they are now. JMO

I'm a GM guy through and through. Can't see driving another brand...I'd hate it. I plan on keeping mine until it rots into the ground anyways. Pretty bummed GM went under though. Hopefully they come back better than ever.

In a second. I will not turn my back on them. The pro-import media up here would love to have seen them liquidate, because as far as they are concerned, imports rule.

Plan on driving the current ride for a few years yet, but if they ever release the 1500 diesel, I would think about it. And would not turn my head away from an LBZ either.

I will echo everything that has been said here. I have been GM most all of my life with the exception of a 73 340 Plymouth Duster.
Then again my 03 DA has less than 35K on it so I will have it for along time I hope. My lumina is getting worn out so I might be looking in the future but we will play it by ear.

yeah i would buy again. heres how i look at it. they have had 11 years worth of LS parts for any gas V-8 so if i need another backup vehicle if the passat goes under i will have a lot parts for a gas V-8 truck. plus GM is the worlds second biggest automaker so there is a good chance there are parts in the junkyard.

Not just "NO", but "HELL NO". In 46 years of buying New cars, I have bought over 75 new GM cars, about 40 for myself personally, and the rest for my companies. I STRONGLY resent GM ditching the excellent local dealer since 1918 just because he also has Honda, and leaving the only GM dealer 50 miles away in a small one horse town, leaving approximately 150,000 people without a GM dealer in the major town for 50 miles each way, and the only town with significant financial and wealth base to buy a lot of new vehicles. Most GM truck buyers in the area will move to Ford, and car buyers to imports. Just prior to this lost the GMC, Buick, Pontiac dealer because of GMAC, and Chrysler pulled it's old time dealer and left us with a Jeep dealer. Really stupid because the wealth and car buying ability of the community 50 miles away (poor farm community who has lost all its timber and manufacturing jobs, much of its pop base, and has education levels below HS) is so far below the main community which is heavily educated, wealthy retired and buy lots of new cars and trucks.
I hope to never buy an Obamamobile or a Oboicup. I personally am rooting for total GM failure because the great majority of the car buying public who lives other than city center still want their SUV's, large pickups, etc, but they want better fuel mileage, cleaner fuels, and less cost of operation. And it can be done, but Obama wants us all in sardine cans running of hot air furnished by the beans he feeds us. The Obama moto: Back in the U.S.S.R . ! United States Socialist Republic !

I will allways own GM cars and trucks. Wether they stay in business or not. They have done alot of things to bring on their own demise. The dealerships with astronomical labor rates[sometimes over $200hr] and out of this world parts prices are just some of the big mistakes. I never could figure out why they had to have chevy and gmc trucks that are virtually identical. Same with car models. Most of their problems were brought on by management ,yet they blame labor.
Lets hope they make it threw chapter 13 and emerge better than ever. Many peoples livelyhood depends on them.
