4x4 won't disengage

my truck is stuck in 4x4 i tried a dif switch it still does the same thing if i hit 2x it will make a sound like it engage then it will disengage one time it even went back to 2x but then i hit 4x now its stuck there i am 90% sure its the encoder motor on the transfercase. What do you guys think? i know there $$$$ so i thought i'd get some input.

If you've changed the switch already, I'd say it's the motor. My 02 used to give me all sorts of problems coming out of 4x4. I would put it in 4LO, move forward a few feet, then reverse a few feet, go to neutral, push the 2HI button. That normally freed it up enough to get back to 4X2, but it never really got better. I never changed the motor, just sold the truck! :)
