I'm getting there!
Well guy's I figured I would post up another thread on this that way others out there might find it and maybe it will help them too... the last two heavy rain storm we had my son's Jetta filled up with about 2 inches of water standing on the passenger side of the car both front and rear floor boards.
I had suggested to disco the sunroof motor and silicone the glass shut... problem solved... nope! he said he likes to use the sunroof and wants to keep it functioning.
Me... bummer that means more work LOL
I did some searching online and found this video and this one forum thread about it.
back when I had torn the car apart because the ECM wasn't getting power (ended up finding a faulty relay) I had the wiper cowl off and there was a ton of compost under it. that area was packed full of leaves and debris. I had cleaned it all out but didn't realize the front drain tubes for the sun roof were in there.
reading the linked thread, it's apparent that there may also be issues with the tubes themselves sealing to the tray below the glass in the roof. they recommend not to use a blow gun to clean them out, but to use weed-eater string to rod it out. I will try this, but I think the headliner and pillar moldings will need to come off to get at the tray and check the seals for the tubes also. almost every piece of plastic I touch seems very brittle in this car so I would assume there are issues there too.
I will keep you all posted as this gets taken apart and try to take some pictures along the way so others will know what to expect. Hopefully it all goes back together and nothing gets broken in the process.... We shall see....
