I just got the new 9G glow plugs. They look exactly the same as the 61G plugs.
Just have to find the time to Install them now. Lol

So the 9G is definitely preferred over the 61G? I have a few out on my 06.

Not sure if they are preferred, but the 9Gs are the newest up to date part number.
One thing I noticed is they seem to take about 1 to 2 seconds longer to heat up prior to dash light going out.
No issues to date since replacing all of the plugs with the 9Gs.

I have no idea why companies recycle model or part numbers. I've had 3 John Deere 400's. Not at all similar to each other.
I have a 4010 John Deere tractor that is not at all similar to the new 4010 tractors. Just seems foolish to me.
