Well guys I switch to a duramax this week. Found a clean one owner 2005 1 ton dually crew cab 4x4 fully loaded with 73k. Question what are the 95 6.5td going for now days, my old one is 2wd crew cab, cloth interior, 194k miles, 3inch down pipe, 4 inch exhaust, leroy's pmd relocation kit, leroy's walbro fuel pump and filter kit, boost and egt gauges. Body is good shape with a bed liner. I will try to get pics of it online and of course pics of the new family member.
Looking for a good exhaust for the new one and going to change out the factory mirrors.

I suggest Leroy for exhaust and mirrors.

Congrats on the new truck, I'd love to see pics of both

Congrats, post some pictures! The guys here can get you on track for maintenance and make it run a little bit better.. ;)

Congrats on the purchase! We've had our 05 since new and it "only" has 105k on it, nary an issue with it so far.

Exhaust: Go back to Leroy and get a Diamond Eye 4". Mirrors: Hit Ebay and find the 06+ (Ford) Style mirrors that have LED turn signals, heat and power adjustment. I paid around $350 for ours, IIRC.

I'd also suggest replacing all the lube(s) with Amsoil. Engine, Trans, T-Case and Axles, especially if the PO didn't mention how old they are. Being a dually, it's likely done a lot of towing, and that heat kills lubricants. It's also probably time to flush the coolant if that hasn't been done, it's likely 8 year old original. Then call Greg at Lubrication Specialist (vendor here) and stock up on a couple Racor (OEM) Fuel filters, grab a WIF sensor wrench from him, and a couple Allison Spin-On oil filters.

Duramax will blow your mind when you hook it up to your enclosed trailer. If the 6.5 pulled it well, then you won't even know it's there with the 05. ;)

Thanks for all the info I have a whole new learning curve of maint. with this. But now I found out my son wants to keep the 6.5 in the family so he can drive it next year when he is old enough. I will work on the pics after next week going to Texas for a little get away.
