Friends truck. Has around 170K on it. New mass airflow sensor just installed but did it before replacement. Has a intake system with an oiled filter, but decent design to keep hot underhood air out. :nonod: Yeah, Yeah, I know I do not like this type of filter.

Miles on spark plugs unknown. Does this year have the need penetrating oil issue to keep the threads from stripping?

When the engine is around 1500 RPM and in overdrive lockup adding a little throttle or load of a hill will give you a violent jerk and then continues to do so in 3-5 second intervals best I recall. Like the engine suddenly shuts off for a moment or is attempting to shift. It feels like more than a miss. Perhaps a miss attempts to drop out of OD? It will constantly do this if left at same load and throttle.

In OD lockout around same RPM but slower this does not happen.

Owner also complains about lack of power and poor MPG. Shifts all the time. Truck has 20" tires on it. Would like a tuner after we get this fixed and I did see the other thread for tuners.

I am thinking possible worn plugs or bad EGR going wide open and have not dismissed transmission or computer issues. Would a crank or cam sensor drop out do this?

No SES light triggered.

What do the Ford people think?
