Figured I would document the progress of the mods I will be doing and just general maintainence.

Bought the truck 2 days ago. The big thing that sets this truck apart is the Quadrasteer option. This allows the rear wheels to steer up to 12*. I believe I can turn this truck in a 15" dia. I have a video I'll post later (have to load it first).
The first day I had it I thought a friend was going to buy it from me, but he could not get financing. He wanted to pay me $2500 more than I did.

Anyway Got the oil changed with Amsoil Signature series 5W-30 today. It is rated for 25000 miles or one year. After 15000 I'll do oil analyisis.
Also put an old DMAX filter box on it. I had it laying around for years because I took it off my old 2003 DMAX truck.

Heres some pictures. The way I bought it

Nice looking truck! There is a company here in Seiling that has 10 of these trucks in many styles (ECLB,ECSB,CCSB,1500HD,2500). I think they even have a quad steer burb but I wasnt sure if they ever made those. They have 4 sons and bought one for each, both husband and wife have one and their company managers drive one each.

What do the Dmax get for fuel mpgs? My old 03 seems like it got 17ish. Then the cost of the engine and electronics...ect. I have a 12valve in the shop and should get 22mpg from it and no electronics except for an OptiShift to controll the 4L80E.

My LBZ gets 22+ highway(72mph), 18.7 interstate(85mph), 18.2 daily chores, 12-13 towing reasonable trailers grossing <18K.

Being an 03 I think you will have most of the correct harnesses for LBZ and 6speed allison equipment. Of course the quad steer could throw a kink in that.

I will also add dual 3in cats and a 3in highflow exhaust really helps the 6.0's.

that gmfullsize.com site I told you about has a few guys that have done that conversion.

That better #s than I thought Tanner. LBZ started in 06? What would be the most desirerable DMAX to swap in? Do you have a link to the swap/s you mentioned. I'll take a look over there also to see if I can find them.

I believe that the 04.5 to 05 LLY Dmax trucks get slightly better mileage than the LBZ trucks do, everything else being equal. GM lowered the compression ratio on the LBZ and very late LLY engines. Some LLY trucks have shown a tendency to overheat if pushed really hard though.

So, in a stock application 04.5-05 what types of mileage is real world for them?

Just got off the phone with a guy about EFI live. He said a dyno tune would be the best and it should cost $300-400. He also said 15 mpg is about max on my truck. Seems like I have heard the 07-08 trucks are getting 16-18mpg out of the box.
If I had to buy the EFI thats $900. It looks more and more like a diesel swap would make since. Im just not sure I want to spend the money and time.

LBZ is what I would do.

I would think plug and play also, THEFERMANATOR would be the guy to ask.

Don't swap a LML.. :D I can't get over 16 with mine.

LLY's get good mileage but dont have a 6speed behing them factory. My cousin has an 05 Crew Cab dually 4x4 with bale bed and gets 15-16 highway which is decent for the pig that it is.

Havent been to GMFS since I got rid of my gassers 3 years ago. Ill see if I can find them again.
