1999 K1500 Suburban - spare on Barn door?

Tried googling, but I couldn't find anyone that had done it.

Is it possible to hang the spare tire on the door? Or on the roof rack? If I wanted the space in the rear...
 
I would hang a swinging bracket off the bumper. Thats a lot if weight for that thin metal imo. Usually you can get a jeep one when they go to bigger ones for off roading or just get rid of them all together. Then just modify the mounting plate and catch plate.
