Hey guys my problem is in the AC, this thing works great for an hour or 2 and the the airflow seems to just dwindle down and get very weak. So does my 02 2500HD have a cabin filter and if so where is it and how hard is it to get to??

Hey LW... good to see you ...it's a Sunday afternoon and not many were around... glad to see you figured it out...next time shoot me a PM when you have a help thread and we'll get you taken care of...hope to see you around more, but for better things like mods and upgrades... ;)

I hope that fixes your AC problem, but my '01 did the same thing, work for awhile then the air would just drop off. Mine turned out to be one of the pressure switches...I can't remember which one either the high or low pressure switch. Good luck with the filters.

I am still having the same problem with my A/C as it works great for about 2hrs and then it starts blowing cool not cold and the air flow drops off quite a bit. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong as I have taken out the filters and that wasn't it? Also I have the manual temp control.

Check the drain and also if its not draining there is a cleaning foam that works great for pumping in there I will dig around and get the name for you it also takes away the mildew smell that lays around in the cab of the truck. Have you had anyone check the pressue on the ac system you might need a alittle added to the system. You could alway get a temp gauge and turn ac on high max and see what the coldest it gets down to in the cab. I was only getting to 58 area and kinda felt cold but ac made a werd noice turns out I had a small leak and we vacumed it down replaced valve and recharged it and now she gets down to 30 degs lol

I have checked and system doesn't need any freon. I am leaning towards one of the pressure switches could be bad. But will that cause the airflow to fall off? When the airflow falls off it feels like maybe 30 to 35% less and that is on max any ideas??? Oh yea the drain is clear.

What type of A/C system is it...my wifes 04' Tahoe's auto controlled/Dual Zone A/C goes crazy like that...

maybe the the head unit(?)(electronic control head inside)or a simple BCM flash as the GM mechanic said...but some of those guys are just parts changers so I don't put too much faith in that.

I have the manual A/C in my truck and when the inside coil would "ice up" due to low freon the air flow drops and the temp gets to where the air is "only cool"... I found that turning off the A/C and running the fan on hi would de ice it and then the temps would be cold again when I put it back on A/C...

Thanks Pepperidge mine is manual also so I think I will have someone check it out to see if it needs to be recharged. I can turn the truck off for maybe 10mins and start it up and cools fine so it may be low on freon.

These trucks have to be dead on. My truck calls for 1lb 6 oz and it only had 10 oz in it. went over by a hair and the line frooze and ac would not kick out before when low the ac kicked in and out in and out. There is a circuit board that goes bad I am packing the truck if I get time I will look thru Gm Service Info and pull up your ac unit from the ac and see if there is anything inside that can cause this.

Ok guys I have it figured out duh huh. We just got back from a camping trip in Tennessee and as we were sitting in traffic she started to get warm inside the cab, so I turned the fresh air side on and while we sat there after about 3 to 4mins I heard something rattle like something falling in a plastic bucket. Well you may already know it was ice dropping off the inside coils so I guess I may be low in freon because after that she cooled and blew great so I just kept the fresh air intake on and she did great. Thanks to all that have helped.
