Evenin fellers. My 01 long bed has been with me for a long time. It's one of only a few things in life that have been truly dependable. Love this truck. 327K and still strong. Only recently had an issue with oil pressure. No smoke or lifter noise but the needle drops to 0 at low idle and the bells ding. Won't go higher than 40 at 1500 Rpms which is new. Usually idles at 30-40 and cruises at 50-60. Now the needle is erratic and jumps around. Ordering a sender and going to do a manual oil pressure check this weekend. Oil change is due so on the agenda as well. I'll check the filter for stuff that shouldn't be there. Other ideas? Thanks!

Duramax or 6.5l? I know you could still get the 6.5l in 3500hd's for 01. Put a gauge on it 1st, and go from there. From your oil pressure readings, I'm going to guess you have a duramax as an 01 6.5l won't hold 30 psi at idle whereas a 01 duramax does. On high milage trucks, it isn't uncommon for the oil pump drive gear to break loose on the shaft and spin causing low oil pressure, but the early 1 wire senders can fail often as well.
