The fuel gauge in my 84 k30 diesel just started reading a full tank as a bit above 1/4 full on the gauge. Seems to work otherwise. Gauge harness seems to be plugged in fine. Is this a sending unit or gauge issue?

Well the seal was original and totally shot. Part of it was actually scattered around the belhousing. Wonder that it wasn't leaking worse. Also got a new cdr kit ordered up.

Sorry for the delay. I get about 20-1/4" on my 84 k30 not including the rag joint itself. This doesn't account for play in the slip joint though. Hope this helps

i intend to replace the rear main seal. i'm not looking for a way around that, i just want to make sure the cdr is working so the new seal has the best chance of working. appreciate the suggestions Will, but i'm not looking to do a mod like that at this time. just want to get the stock set up...

I'm pretty sure the CDR failed. i put a gauge on the dipstick and it read nothing at idle or at ~2000 rpm. i even pretty well covered both intake openings on the air cleaner (to max out intake vacuum) and it still read nothing. even if the gauge isn't sensitive enough to read 1" wg, it should...

yeah i found an old thread on one of the other sites that explains it. wasn't sure if it would be fine with just atmospheric pressure but looks like i need some vacuum. buddy has the truck right now but when he gets back im gonna put a vac gauge on dipstick. maybe my intake is too free flowing...

My 84 started leaking real bad a few days back from what appears to be the rear main seal. It probably still has the original rope seal so this isn't too surprising. i will probably change it out this week, but i am wondering about my CDR. the engine only has about 120k miles, doesn't seem to...

Well I had a bit of good luck and picked up an M1008. Lifted on 35s with a gear vendors OD. Almost no rust. Needs some work in the dash and some paint. Couldnt pass it up. Probably won't bother with the swap now. Will still patch up the 82 blazer though.

So this the 82 i picked up. 6hr round trip to get it, sight unseen. but it was cheap. and it is pretty complete, fairly solid and runs and drives. Its a silverado too. motor has long tube headers an edelbrock intake and MT valve covers, but i doubt anything internal. it is gutless. 305 i think...

Found a deal on an 82 blazer. Picking it up tonight. 305 or 350 on propane. Hopefully aside from the diesel swap parts ill have everything i need between the 2 trucks.

There are some drop in electronic gauge kits for these trucks with obdII interfaces. A bit spendy but it would sort out that issue. Would still need to sort out a passenger drop t case. Or find a driver side d44 i guess.
