It's expensive, but I have found that doubling the dose of stanadyne makes the truck run a lot better.
I, too, have found good results running bio. I used to run B100, but they stopped selling it in my area (something about needing above-ground tanks...welcome to California, land of fruits...
One of our favorite shipboard hazing rituals for fresh green cadets was to send them off to fetch a level.
You won't find a level on a ship. Ever. Ships are never level.
Hi,
I run B100 in the truck's native fuel tank, and I have a separate VO system. Two-tank system. Two lift pumps, two different filters.
With VO, you have to start up on diesel (or bio) and purge the IP with diesel before you shut down. The viscosity of the VO is much higher than diesel, so...
Yeah, as Buddy mentioned, I *did* run B100 for the last year or so...but the problem (bucking on hard acceleration) goes back WAY further than that. It just finally got bad enough to shut down the motor during a trip to Vegas (fortunately, fairly close to home, on the way back...~70 mile tow...
I just used two fingers, "claw-style"...but like I said, there may be some hardened sludge on the centerpost that you have to scrape off...it's a snug fit. I tapped on a deep socket to push it back on, but it went on much easier than it came off. I also used a little mirror (the one in the first...

Stuttering on acceleration for a long time, slowly getting worse...finally put in a fuel pressure gauge.

I've also been using Stanadyne Blue whenever I run straight diesel...wonder if there might be a reaction there....
Don't forget...I'm also using straight filtered VO...I checked the IP screen, and it was ok. Usually, if *anything* is going to react with metals, it's the VO.
I heat the VO...
Thanks, Buddy...you know, come to think of it, I've been using B99 biodiesel (Available at the pump here in SD) intermittently for the last 2 years or so. That's in addition to the VO, although the VO doesn't pass through the stock fuel filter. I wonder if that bio has anything to do with that...
Diesel Tune in Downey CA.
http://www.dieseltuneinc.com/
Dave Davis answers the phones, Mike Calandra is the owner and head mechanic.
They have been doing 6.2's and 6.5's forever, and Mike really knows 6.5's well.
Not cheap, though...in fact, in my experience, they'll gouge you a little, given a...
One piece barbs for Feed the Beast Mods
Howdy, All...
First, I cut the old barb off with a Dremel tool. Seemed to me easier than a hacksaw.
I found a #4ORB to 3/8 barb in one piece; it's made by Brennan and available through industrial hose and pipe suppliers. I bought two; 2.63 each plus...

Hi, JM,
Forgot to mention that...I have not been running on WVO since this happened...only diesel with Stanadyne blue additive.
In the original white smoke on startup problem, it was ONLY happening on diesel...running on VO, there was no white smoke on startup. A couple of times, when the...

I had white smoke on startup...You guys said "air in the system,"
Couldn't find air leak, 6.5 expert diagnosed it as a bad injection pump...
OK, so I finally give up on trying to solve my "white smoke on start" problem, after changing out the glow plugs, fuel return lines, checking for fuel and return leaks, changing the return check valve, and even the fuel filter drain hose.
I take it to a guy 100 miles away who is well-known...
Been running 3.21 for about two years now. Love it.
RPM dropped from 2500 to about 2100 @ 75 mph.
1800 used to be 55 mph, now it's about 65. 70 is about 1950.
I am mostly solo, occasionally have 1-3 other people with me, rarely haul a load.
When I do pull with it, I just downshift to keep...
Couple of weeks ago I posted a hard start/white smoke problem that I thought might be a head gasket.
Update:
Still starting hard on diesel.
Needs throttle, takes 10-15 seconds, more in cool weather.
Came on suddenly, I've owned the truck for 8 years, and never needed throttle before...
