Nothing specific. Drop the old fluid out the drain plug on the bottom and add new in the fill plug. I did drop my spare tire to make room for adding fluid, since I didn't have a pump available. That made plenty of room to tilt the plastic bottles of Mobil 1 and fill the rear end. Drain pan...
1) It was somewhere between 2-1/2 and 3, I didn't measure it precisely. I poured it into 2 quart containers for recycling. It filled one and went between 1/4 and 1/2 on the second container.
2) It really didn't smell like grape juice to me. But then it really didn't smell like regular gear...
I am in the process of buying a 5th wheel and noticed there are, at least, two types of mechanisms for the hitch. The clam shell seems to be popular and the Reese Pro Series rounded slide bar has been recommended by a dealer. I will be pulling 9800lbs with a pin weight of 1545lbs.
Is one...
I changed it and it took all 4 qts. That left it right at the bottom of the fill hole. I drained almost 3 qts. out of it. The fluid didn't look bad or smell bad. The drain plug had some fines, but nothing alarming.
I do feel better now that it has 4 qts. of Mobile synthetic.
Thanks for...
My truck is rated to to 15600 GVWR for 5th wheel or goose neck, according to the GMC tow guide for 2006, so I thought the 15k was close enough. I know the 16k has higher capacity, but since I am a repeat buyer with my dealer, he will through the 15k slider in as part of the deal. I haven't...
I am leaning toward the slider because then if I need it I have it. That way I don't get into a situation and wish I had a slider.
I am looking at the Reese Pro 15K. The 5th wheel I am looking at buying has a GVWR of 9800 and the pin weight is 1545. Is that one a good hitch for that unit?
So it sounds like I may not need it, but it wouldn't hurt to have it, except for cost? Right? Are there any performance or longevity advantages of the nonslider over the slider?
I am buying a 5th wheel and have towed only bumper pulls before. I see I have a choice between a slider 5th wheel hitch and one that doesn't slide. I have a 6.5 foot bed on my truck and I am buying a Keystone Outback and it has the reliefs on the front corners to provide a little bit more...
Louisiana
If you are ever in northern Louisiana along I-20, Lincoln Parish Park (Ruston, LA) is a good place to stop. They have full hook-ups for $20 a night and the park is very wooded. It is located on a small lake/pond that you can fish in.
It has one of the top 10 mountain bike trails...
21 foot Pioneer travel trailer. It weighs about 6,000 lbs loaded. I know the Dmax is over kill, but when I go to Colorado I don't want to worry about the mountains. And I never have since getting the Dmax.
Well I finally had time to get things set up here at DTR. Glad I came on over from the dark side.
I sure am glad you guys got this site going after what happened at DP!
