    removing Herculiner

That's because you live down South. Come up here and let the winter salt work on them and they won't look so good. Same thing happened to my nerf bar - rotted from the inside out. Outside didn't look too bad, but the damn thing broke and fell off. Inside was rotted all to hell.

Castrol Loses Appeal on Sludge Claims

If you want a good read on oil, go here: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html While the cite may be motorcycle based, the information is on motor oil - not just for cycles.

    removing Herculiner

Depending on how old they are and where they are coming from, you might not want to mess with them. I had a set of Westins on my work truck that rotted out and broke after 6 years. They rusted from the inside out - so Herculiner wouldn't have helped. That's why my newer truck has stainless ones.

(06/29/09) How do you use a cell phone while driving?

I avoid it like the plague and have been known to pull over when cell phone use was required.

    cluster going wacko

The battery issue tended to effect multiple gauges. You issue sounds like the stepper motor on the oil gauge.

(4/6/09) How long would it take you to clean your garage?

I've been working on it for a month now and still have a long long way to go... :sigh1:

Time For a New Floor Jack

Any well equiped hardware or automotive parts place will have o-rings. As for the manual/diagram, sorry, I can't help you there. If it's only seeping, try filling it back up with oil. Again, hardware/automotive store should have hydraulic oil. If the jack works, at least you'll know what...

Time For a New Floor Jack

Sounds like the jack has a leak and is low on oil. It's very common and can usually be fixed with new o-rings.

    Got Bagged Today

I have the compressor Firestone includes in the kit. When I say a long time, it takes at least 5 minutes for each 10 pounds. I guess it's ok if you're out in the boonies where there is no air available, but I mounted a fill valve on the bumper so I can use my regular air compressor when at home.

    Pre-OEM Fuel Filter

The stock fuel filter is good for 10K to 15K, depending on how clean the fuel is in you local. If you put a prefilter on like the Cat 2 micron, the stock filter will last a lot longer. I took mine off and opened it after 10K and it was less than 1/4 used. As for lift pumps, unless you are...

    cluster going wacko

What you describe is indicative of the batteries either getting ready to crap out, or loose/corroded battery terminals. Low voltage will cause the cluster to stop working. Clean the terminals and make sure they are tight. If it does it again, check the batteries. Yes, the clusters do go...

    Frame goo!

The frame goo, which in fact is a type of hot dip wax coating, is much more durable than paint, which is why they use it. Even if the steel has rust on it when the frame is made (and it most likely does), the wax will seal it and keep it from further rust. I just wish I could find...

Rust on Frame... How concerned should I be?

I'm with DD on this. It will take a long ,ong time for the frame to rust to the point of being a problem, and you can stop it with several rust proofing products. The rust on the box crossmember will be come an issue long before the frame does. The good news is the bed isn't hard to remove...

    Pre or post-OEM filter?

Road salt may not be an issue, but how close to the ocean do you live? Salt is salt! As for the gravel roads, I drove paved roads to and from work everyday, and went through a windshield every year. Even paved roads get debris on them!

    Aftermarket Cats

Let me preface this with, I have always been one of those guys who rolled his eyes when someone said they did something simple to their vehicle and it made a huge difference. I guess you could call me "Doubting Thomas". :yesnod: However, after I was done modifying my truck with the dual...

    Got Bagged Today

Holy crap - mine were no where near that. Of course I did the install myself, but the bags were $240 and the guage/compressor ran $235 for a total of $475. Installtion of the bags is quite easy. The compressor/guage and lines are more complicated, and truth be known, I wouldn't do the...
