Looking for info/input on Nav Head Unit

I really like my 7100. Though you can only get XM for it. If you're just now buying a 7100 then you'll probably want to find out how updated the maps are, 'cause they're ~$130 to get new ones.

Open season on druggies anyone? Maybe we need a druggie hunting permit system :ihih: I'm jealous. We still have all of our beans to put in the ground. x2 on the auto-steer. I believe we would have finished faster if we would put a unit on our tillage tractor. It rained too often here to...

It cuts just as close as a platform head. There's a set of some mean lookin' rotating knives on each row that are maybe an inch from the ground.

Interesting. Our deep well is only 100 HP while our lake pumps are much smaller. We're also only running ~500 gpm with our pumps, We managed to get all but ~20 acres of corn planted. So we'll get the big tractor started cultivating the bean ground. Hopefully we'll get started planting...

We call it a row crop head, but to each their own. The old man bought it when he was playing with sunflowers. Those things have some serious stems. We mainly use it now when the beans are tough or when they're laying down. I like runnin' it because I can go flat out, like ~7 mph while the...

    Auto-steer

Save yourself some trouble and talk to Rawson or Raven. I setup a pull-behind buggy with a Rawson drive motor with their Accu-rate controller hooked to the JD GS2 to do variable rate fertilizer. Now we just need to split the buggy and put a second chain & motor in so we can do a dual product...

nope. but we're ~25 miles east of there. Yeah, this is the first year we've used one. It does make you feel like a small fish. The first full day we could plant the big planter did ~450 acres and I did a whopping 150. You feel all good getting over 100 acres in a day and then the bastard...

Deere already has autonomous tractors in development. Here's a pretty good article on some of this technology.

Pretty simple math, just looks bad with all them numbers :willynilly: I'm not sure on how many towers the big pivot is gonna be. The old man keeps changing his mind on the specs so we'll see how many it is when it finally gets here . We have 3 1300' Valleys that we run also. Our...

    Auto-steer

Most of the built in systems have a seat switch that deactivates it when you get out. Though ours are supposed to be setup that way I didn't feel like hooking it up. Though they still kick out if you don't hit a button or something after 5 min or so.

    Auto-steer

Who's got 'em, who want's 'em. Who doesn't care? Personally we have two units that we move around and I wonder how we got anything done before we had 'em.

We're getting a new 1,800' T-L pivot in a couple months. Looking forward to seeing that dude in action. Looking to get 1-2 more depending on if we can get access to the city's waste water. I'd like to pull our new air-ride Timpte trailer but for some reason I keep getting stuck with the old...

Yep. Been doing it for a few years now. Though I have to say that is usually when we are only spraying roundup. Everything else we go close to the maximum on the label.

I know what you mean about havin' a tender. Spraying @ 5-6 Gal/Ac I could usually do 5-600 acres per day running back to the shop to load. When I can get a reliable tender I can usually hit close to 1,000 acres per day if the fields aren't too spaced out.

    Farming Thread:

We've gotten ~700 acres of corn done, just need to do the other 600. Once that's done I imagine we'll turn around and start on beans. All this rain is rather frustrating.

    Check your balls!

LOL, gotta love the power of rust. On our 2 5/16 ball I welded the nut to the shank and spot welded the lock washer to the nut. There should be a zero chance of it coming loose.
