Yeah, I got a good list of tarps/straps/chains/etc for securing just about anything to the trailer... honestly looking at getting that stuff and a couple boxes up front of the deck just because it'd make it much more handy for my purposes plus "hookin a bruddah up" if someone needs something...
I would like to know, from guys actually in the business now..
What all do I need, to get started hotshotting.
I have a 35' gooseneck, 30' deck with an 8x6 platform over the hitch. 12,000lb load capacity, trailer's titled for 15,999lbs and weighs about 3500 lbs.
Truck's the truck, 04...
5 spares because the previous owner was using it to haul the gravel handling contraption behind it for a business. It's quite obvious he basically would go as far as he could on tires since the 2 spares that are gone were gone gone worn the hell out. 3 of 5 spares are good and the rims are...
I guess I'm now in the gooseneck club. Needed the 30' deck to be able to load up the CUCV and Half-V (1/2 CUCV pickup trailer) as one unit, plus other junk.
8x6 deck above the hitch.
No 6.5 stories, but here's the worst with both.
-48 w/ the CUCV. Not plugged in, no heaters. 2 cycles on the glow plugs, full throttle, crank, continue giving high throttle until the RPM's try to spike, then let off to keep it near idle.
-62 with the Duramax. Sounded like a powerstroke trying...
To actually fix the part once you narrow it down? If you have it in hand.... about 10 minutes if you have to hunt for sockets that fit. Less if you know what it takes.
To figure out when you have 12 codes tripped to run through with diagnostic testing on all of them? 4 hours of diagnostic...
it has been cleaned in the past. crankshaft sensor. Failure of the crankshaft sensor will cause the PCM/ECM to stop fueling the engine, which causes the immediate dying symptom. Unfortunately, due to it generating an AC current, it's not something you can easily bypass for "oh shit" mode...
Well, I forgot to add from today's drive around.... felt like seeing what was what and also exploring the town and conducting recon as to where I am taking the truck tomorrow.
Predator codes as follows
P0016- Camshaft position sensor
P0101- MAF sensor
P0335- crankshaft position sensor...
Yeah, it might be the alternator... we'll obviously be getting that tested, however it seems really odd. I can understand the truck throwing the CEL and telling me the batteries aren't charging, however it does seem odd to me that it'd flat cut out... you would think at least safety wise it...
In addition, I had about 1500 miles in michigan done over varying terrain roughness prior to departing back to NV (which is what we are enroute on) so I don't think anything can be attributable to Merchant's stuff. Those guys were hot shit and I'd have them work on it now if I was still in MI...
Transmission
Pitmann
Idler arm
Tie rod ends
3x axle seals (both front one rear)

Everything worked just fine out of their shop. Alternator gave up the ghost about a week after, swapped it and a jump, tada golden. now this.
Already have. No wiring seems to be damaged, everything is secure, plugged in appropriately. No hot spots, worn spots, or other signs of bad things. Tracing wiring at 5 degrees is a (*%(* too. SOoooo I'm gonna have the mechanic at the shop tomorrow double check everything just because A...
Ok, so tooling along doing 75 in a 75 for once on I-80, cruise control on.
Cruise control cuts out. Ok, that's odd. reset, get back up to speed. Engine dies, then restarts on its own sans starter use. This repeats multiple times, I end up taking the first off ramp and riding the brake because...
Running double strength power service in winter blend diesel, and changed out the fuel filter first thing as a "first thought" measure.
The batteries are newer, less than 6 months old... however, we did have the alternator go out on us last month. Starting is not the issue. The issue is...
Duramax. We're in a hotel in sydney, I drove braced foot, restarting the truck here and there as necessary on I-80 to get here. The batteries are fully charged, I checked with my multimeter w/ everything off. The batteries are also less than a year old, to boot. About 6 months thereabouts...
Truck's saying the batteries aren't charging.
Headlights stay bright, I get 14.5 at both batteries as per multimeter testing. Truck dies intermittently. All battery connections as well as alternator connections are as secure as secure can be.
Anyone in the area that knows what they are...
Alternator. Had issues, looked like it was charging, ended up being bad. Pull it with your batteries and have them test it at whatever shop you use for parts.
It's a western.
Disconnected it this morning, hose was pressurized, tank was not.
Into the fill tube I go. Pumped fine.
There's either a blockage in the vent line, or a fluid restriction/back-flow prevention device inline.
The aux tank, pump, and fuel hoses are known good...
the pump i WAS using was a rotary manual pump from HF. The electric fuel pump is from Summit and worked with this exact same setup, pumping fuel at .5g/minute, nonstop, up until it was hooked to the vent line.
