My point was to get as much as an upgrade without spending the big money. I don´t really need a bigger turbo, it´s just more fun to drive.. An added bonus of having the wicked wheel is that the turbo appears to be stock. I haven´t really gotten all the modifications approved by the authorities.. ;)
The story continued with getting the diamond eye exhaust and the new starter in place. I was very worried about breaking the bolts when trying to get the old crossover removed. A friend of mine recommended soaking the bolts in 50/50 ATF and acetone, and it worked like a charm! I gave it a couple...
It´s been a long while since I posted anything here now - as I mentioned earlier, I´ve been crazy busy with everything else than the Suburban. Luckily, she just keeps on working giving me very few problems!
I wrote that I´d share the pictures from my gm8 turbo rebuild, so here goes....
This is...
Hi @FellowTraveler!
So nice of you to ask! :) Hope everything is well with you and yours as well!
I have to admit it´s quite a privilege to live in a tiny Northern European country these days. Even though covid obviously is making a great impact on our society, it is pretty much a walk in the...
Good to hear! I honestly vant remember what I did, bug the turbo is still doing good! :)
all is well in Norway, hope everythingis good at your side of the pound top! :)
I was more thinking about if There was somewhere i could actually tap a pwm signal related to fuel consumption.
i have a computer system called utcomp installed for all my extra veg oil sensors that calculates consumption based on a pwm signal. :)
haha, well that would explain it!
I´d think that you could calculate the mpg from the commanded fuel rate to the IP - or would that maybe be far off?
Not too bothered about the oil temp, to be honest. The fuel temp is much more interesting for my veg oil driving. :)
Been stuck between work and a flu the last week's. Found a project to do from the bed!
While driving home from work the other day I suddenly had the engine light coming up, so I invested in a Bluetooth adapter and a cheap Android pad. When I drove to the store, I the HVAC blower stopped...
Thanks so much for your ideas and thoughts!
Sorry my reply has taken me some time. Life wanted a word or two with me again. *sigh*
When I did my initial converting to veg oil I troubled with it for a long time, and thought the temps might be the issue, so I put quite some work into getting more...
Sometimes it is a good feeling to give in and have someone else do the work as well...
I hope you get it all sorted on Monday! I have to say the install was much easier when I had a friend who wasn't afraid to be under the truck to help me. A bitt of wiggling back and forwards and we were good...
So, for a while I have been planning on re-routing a lot of my coolant lines in order to get faster warmups in the winter and more heat directed at the who system.
The first thing I am planning on doing is to re-route the return hose from the heater to the radiator to go back to the water pump...
Glad to hear you made some progress! :)
I am enjoying my ride these days - still listening to the starter that seems to behave nicer, playing with the turbo spool stick I mounted and trying to get the egt sensor to read in my onboard computer - but MAN, what a joy to drive the new car. It was...
So did I. The DE exhaust was probably this xmas´ easiest project on my part, haha.
I did mount a EGT sensor in the exhaust manifold. Something is funky with the readings, though.
