The round filter has 2x the filter media area as the flat filter, I have cut both filters apart and measured. I believe the flat filter K&N only flows 30% more than a stock flat filter so the factory round filter will out flow the flat K&N by a lot, very cool.
HighSierra glad you posted that 97+ elbow. Thats why I choose to go the black sewer pipe from Home Depot route. My 93 has a slightly different coolant overflow tank so I can't say if it will work on 94+ trucks for sure, the elbow is close to the battery terminal but doesn't rub.
I have...
I just used the 97+ round filter and housing and my old 1993 rubber 90 degree elbow, combined them with a 90degree black plastic plumbing elbow(is it abs or pvc?). I prefer this setup over the factory 97+ plastic and rubber 90 elbow which gets flatend out, and I suspect a little restrictive. I...
It appears that the purple/white wire also goes to the B terminal of the glow plug controller it tee's in with the ignition switch in the start position. That's if I'm reading thinks correctly, it's been a few years since I've needed to read electrcal schematics. This thread has turned out to...
Should of mentioned check the balancer for any signs of movement or rubber deterioration, if there isn't I wouldn't worry about it before the move. Doing the balancer turns into a bigger job as you need a harmonic balancer puller, 1/2" drive torque wrench good for 200 ftlb's and also need to...
I have heard a common problem with the 4l80e is the oil pump regulator can stick to high pressure and when you put it into reverse it breaks the reverse band or clutch pack something like that. There is some sort of up date for the regulator to solve that problem.
Thanks again Doug. I think I have found the problem with my truck I'm not getting any power from the glow plug controller pin B during the wait to start cycle. Pin B is suppost to power the solinoid in the fuel pump relay, which will then fire up the fuel pump.
The glow plug controller I...
Thanks, thats great Doug, that has most of the info but I think we may also need a schematic for the Glow Plug Control System. Then we can tie both systems together and how they might effect each other. I have a basic schematic for the Glow Plug Control System from a Haynes repair manual but it...
Shawn I'm in the same situation, not getting power from I assume glow plug controller to the fuel pump relay. I'm tempted to run jumper wire from the output wire (goes to the glow plugs) on the glow plug controller to the solinoid on the fuel pump relay. I better wait till Don can post the...
Thanks for that info Don, the lift pump on my 93 doesn't operate during WTS cycle, You don't off hand remember were the power to operate the lift pump comes from during WTS cycle. Maybe from the glowplug contoler?
I think what you are describing is the cold fast idle solinoid its on the drivers side of the pump. On the passanger side of the pump is the TPS (throttle position sensor for the trans.) mine has 3 wires coming out of it. And in the center top of the pump cover should be two wires one for the...
One of the wires is for the on/off solinoid and the other is for the cold starting advance, it advances the injection timing to aid in cold starting. This maybe part of your cold starting problems so check to make sure you are getting power to it, once engine warms up then the temp sensor on...
Superchargers/blowers are very inefficient, they can suck up to 1/3 of the total hp an engine can produce. Example: if a supercharged 6.5 put out 300hp at the flywheel the super charger can be robbing 130hp but stressing the engine like it was producing 430hp. In the case of the 6.5 with a...
